Hey guys try shinning a laser on the non-readable side of a game cube disc.

Put a lens on it so you cover the whole CD with the laser light and try and hold it as close a 0 degree angle as you can. You should see something very cool. I dunno if it works for all game cube CDs , but I think it does due to the way they coated both sides. I won't say what it is , but it looks pretty awesome.

So for the 99% of this forum that won't have a game cube CD on hand... we're just left guessing?

Aha! I just did it with Super Monkey Ball 2 and what happens is that the cover of the disk is projected as a reflection. It's really neat!

It seems to work best with blu-ray and green. Here's a pic from my 400mw blu-ray.

Mario kart double dash...angle is a bit off in this since I was holding the camera.

*dashes for Sonic Adventure 2: Battle* Omg this is epic :O Pardon the pic, the violet wouldn't show up well, and my Lyra is TEM01 so I couldn't get a clear shot plus holding the button down with your pinkie, and the lens with two other finger, and the camera in another hand is tricky business. And I don't feel like re-sizing my ipod picture, so just know it works haha. Very interesting, the size of the reflected image is based on the laser's divergence. I noticed this when I tried with an unlensed(sp) diode, and the reflection took up my whole ceiling and part of my walls. Good fine

There's a way to get a better image. Don't use a lens and just hold the disc up against the reflection from the wall. With 20 mw green it was perfect no distortions or nothing. It was just mirrored.

I've got a 4.5mW Lyra gold 532 that operates in TEM01 :/
