If y'all can't find a way around this, you'll end up doing it somewhere else.

In any event, this has been discussed ad nauseum in other threads.

Take it to PM's or drop the issue

Peace,
dave

Well, there's one question that's yet to have been answered, and only c0ld can answer it.

Why was he so quick to drop the banhammer on Jerry + Jay, when other members (above mentioned) lingered for so long and some still do?

I can easily go for that...

Jerry

I also, but I'd still like an official answer first.

Sounds like a plan.

My recommended optimizations to your firmware to improve data throughput and increase the performance of your product will stay on my hard drive.

He is fed up with this whole situation in the last weeks and took a stand against the drama by temp-banning two Vets

Unfortunately, I cannot discuss everything that goes on behind the scenes.

However, you may have noticed, that new mods were added. This was in direct response to the "cries" that there was too much drama in the forum. Along with adding the mods to perform some of the needed actions, the drama will also be dealt with more rapidly now.

If people cannot give themselves a needed "time out" (I go for a walk), the admin will give it to them ;)

So to answer your question of "Why isn't it like it was before?" -- Things have changed based on the desires of the community

I'm sorry Dave, and please don't take this the wrong way. However, I'm not buying that based on the fact that mods here don't have the power to ban people (except Simon I believe?, and that's only if the person makes a post) I do remember you saying once that you don't have the power to ban, only to make recommendations as to who should be banned. I'm guessing all new mods are like this as well. My point being is if you don't have the power to ban someone (or any of the other new mods for that matter), then what good are you guys as far as dealing with problems go? Sure, you can lock a thread, but that's only a temporary fix. A true nuisance will keep on trolling in other threads. Sure, you can make a recommendation as to who should be shown the door, but doesn't all of our past cries hold water as to who should be shown the door as well? What makes your recommendation so special as opposed to how many other members recommendations?

I didn't say anything about me banning anyone.

Once again, things have changed based on the desires of the community and the moderation structure. That's why it is "different" now.

You appear to want to justify present action based in past action. This cannot be done and still remain "different" from before. People were not happy with what it was like before. Now it is different.

All we can do is look to how the forum is run and how it thrives from this point on. If people end up happier, then it will have worked. If people are not happier, I'm sure that c0ld will continue to work to adapt the forum to the needs of the community. He has done so since it's inception. I see no reason to think that he will suddenly stop it now.

Peace,
dave

Wow, I'm gone for 2 weeks and all this crap?!?!. this will be my one and only post on this subject or any other derogatory(ish) statement.

This drama is bull. we all used to get along.. maybe not great, but it worked. You will see no bad statements from me at all regarding any of my products specifically in defense of any criticism on build quality. I HAVE adapted my builds to exclude a good portion of my hot glue use due to criticism. Laserbee was told to do it in the existing enclosure, not a seperate one and if he could use the existing enclosure and the space limitations could use no hot glue at all, I will utilize those methods. Because of space limitations, the battery enclosure, which laserbees does not have, cannot utilize the screws. Hot glue is a perfect solution for this and since it is a plastic battery holder that fits INSIDE the enclosure, I see no reason to not use it... I've gotten only the ONE complaint from the reviewer on the FUNCTIONALITY of my meters which in my estimation is teh ONLY requirement. If the inside is messy, but continues to function as it was intended with no issues, who should care. I've learned over the years to clean up my builds and will continue to do so as I learn more methods of doing so... enough said on that subject...

As to the cigarettes, all I can say is wow. Really? I appreciated everyones donations and EVERY PENNY OF DONATIONS was used to keep me from being homeless. Laser sales provided me with my daily living expenses including ROLL YOUR OWN CIGARETTES which are 100% cheaper and then placed in old cigarette boxes I've kept for that purpose. However, since I procured that money from sales of my personal possessions, I don't believe I should have to defend myself on this subject.

I will continue to sell Kenometer Pro's and USB's. My customers will still get fully functional meters that will continue to do so for years after the purchase... I'm sure that even laserbees initial Kenometers that he purchased from me all those years ago, STILL FUNCTION, regardless of the amount of hot glue used. The times he's had issues, I've worked with him to either refund him money, or repair said meters.

I love how I've lost out on an opportunity to learn another method to improve my meter because of shit I wasn't involved with.

That does kinda suck, maybe in the future ask that people let you defend your own work, so this wont happen.
Maybe if you two talk it out you guys can working something out im sure it.
like i said in the past if only you 2 could work together to make one meter with the best of both sides.
Just my 2 cents it would be great to see a lpm also double as a digital power supply.
kinda like this with an added lpm charts volts amps and output of your lasers. heck that would be the perfect torture chamber for a laser.
Someone should build it for the 445nm lasers down to the second timing and charts.
