Ive just read the sticky concerning forum raffles.

I'm presuming a forum auction is ok? I sent this to MOD, but then i saw the Raffles sticky, what do you guys think?

I have a 100mW (pot modded to 110-120mW) 532nm "labby" here going to waste, im not sure what to do with it so i thought i'd raffle it and the highest bidder gets it AFTER they have donated (and had it confirmed) the sale price + whatever the shipping is, to the forum, as it's nearly at target for donations this month so i'll do it next month... so i'm after advice on the best way to go about it.

Regards
This is the Exact model i have, >>>LINK<<< except mine was bought as a 100mW unit, and ive turned the pot up and metered on my LPM doing a very stable 115mW with no noticable mode hopping.

I'm pretty sure auctions are ok. I've seen alot of them around and they are alot different than Raffles. It would help with your bidding if you post your location and time when you want the auction to end. I'm not a mod so I may be wrong. Anyhow I wish you luck selling your laser. Be careful as there were a few scams recently and a few pictures wouldn't hurt. Also you should post what payment methods you accept.

Good luck!
Jeff

If you are going to hold a Auction you will need to specify
an exact end time for the accepted Last Bid...

You will also need to post the auction bids as they happen in real
time.
You will need to sit in front of your computer during the Auction
to control it and update the bids...
There is work involved on your part...

An auction is not considered a Raffle because no-one pays any
money until the end of the auction and only the Highest Bidder
will pay....

BTW... your profile doesn't say where the item would be shipped
from...

Noted Jerry.

I'm in the UK which is where it would be posted from.

I'm sat in front of the computer most of the day anyway due to the nature of my job, again, open to suggestions as to how long to run the auction for?

*EDIT , or i could just put it on eBay, and the members can bid there (if they have an eBay account obv) ?

Might I suggest with the time...that you run off the servers time, and not GMT or Atomic. I lost an auction here(no bad feelings of course) because of that mix up. I think the server time is the only unifying time.
Again just a suggestion. ;)

I think most members do have an eBay account...

That IMO is the most logical way to go... No checking the bids and
posting them... no arguments as to who got the last bid because
of time zone differences...
Bidders can put their Max bids in and eBay will bid for them...

I am assuming the PED only wanted LPF members to have a chance to win the auction, and that is why He was wanting to run the auction here. I know when You assume You can be an Ass and totally wrong, but I think not this time.

well what i could do is completely mis label it on ebay, put it up as something people arent going to search for, when im looking for lasers on eBay i typically type in things like laser , 532nm , 445nm ect, i'll mis label it so nobody looking for lasers finds it, then put the direct link on the forum so ONLY forum members will know its there?

Ebay will kill the listing if They realize that it is for a Laser over 5mw. You would have to disguise the listing anyway to avoid that.

@ Kiy, Buyout?

@ Ash, i bought it as a 100mW (as stated in my origonal post) and just turned the pot up to 115mW , but its uber stable, and even if it raises $20 for the forum, its $20 it didnt have before, and someone has a nice laser to boot :)
