I've actually got updated pretty much everyone that's paid so far. Now the # of people that have paid does not reflect the total # of barrels paid for since some folks got more than 1 barrel.

hey guys. just joined this board and making my first laser soon.

anyways kenom you were talking about trying to make a design on a cad program or something. im 15 and taking alot of cad/engineering classes so if you need someone to make the design on the computer for other people to see send me the specs and stuff to xtremeoid@gmail.com and ill see what i can do. i might also be ordering one of these things, but ill have to talk to my dad first.

xtremeoid - read up from the first post on to this one.....it's past the design phase, and ready to roll on production (I think ? LOL) Hmmmm...maybe I need to go read on some, too ! :p

If you talk to your Dad about this - make it happen ! This is a great deal, and will work out REALLY well if you take good care of it....

so will there have to be any tweaking done with the included driver? or do you just solder it up to the BR diode(assuming you already set it to blu ray and not red) just curious because i thought each diode is different

I think there is an adjustable pot on the driver. Last I hear, all we have to do is solder on a jumper to select between BR or Red current range.

also WHEN i get one of these ;) changing the driver for different diodes other then the dvd/red will just be a simple solder of different resistors or be more involved

just a jumper is what it seems

paid! hey kenom, you don't have to click 'shipped' on google checkout in order to get the money. You should click shipped when it's actually shipped, so you can include the tracking #.

You don't have to ship it anymore in order to payout?  Man I suck at this internets stuffs.
Ok well, I will send shipment confirmations to everyone's email when I do ship these.  I realize it's an extra step but I'm sure everyone will like to know when they ship.  and for the most part unless you opted for upgrade on shipping there won't be a trackin #.  Usps doesn't provide tracking all that well but the prices are waaay cheaper.

Yes your correct taht all that will be required is to solder a "shim" or "jumper" across one resistor or another to select teh option for bluray or red.

Ok everyone's been clamoring for some kind of sketch for the final design that I'm going to take to the manufacturer.  To be honest I should have done this a long time ago but have been slacking.  To this I apologize.  It's impossible for you to have trust in me if I'm not pulling my own weight.  So that being said I took the time tonight to draw up a simple sketch in paint to show the basic outline of the barrel and to share with you my thoughts on sizes.  Sorry the picture below is a little big but it was the only way to get it on without making it too small to see.

Total length of barrel from tip to end cap will be in the ballpark of 120mm.

width of barrel will be 22mm.

It will fit 2 cr123 batteries with a stopper at the top of the barrel to prevent the batteries from spilling out the top when the head is removed.

Inside diameter of the driver chamber at the top of the battery compartment will be 17mm

head length will be 18mm.

To confirm about the drivers -
Every diode IS different, and I do not know what setting the pots will be on when I get them. I WILL NOT be responsible if you fry your diode because you didn't check the current before turning on.
First you must select red or BluRay with a resistor jumper similar to the Die4Drive. But only with a choice of 2 resistors.
THEN, you MUST test output current using a multi and whatever load. I'm not gonna go into how to measure current and DO NOT ASK ME TO!!!!11!1!one!!!
If you want to use a different diode, it will probably be a high power one, so I assume you would use the red setting. Changing it from one rrange to another would not be as simple, you need to know how to desolder.
