For those of you with dilda lasers, look inside. That is exactly what the diode from the 6x sled is like. It looks like a long-die open can, but with a can on it. I have one running at like 270mW and its been going forever. There is also a windowless IR diode, of an unknown power. Probably at least 100mW.

and of course the 6x diode. Run it at 190mA and it will love you forever.

I remember my first 6x... back when it was a big deal to have one  ;D

PEW PEW PEW!!!

p.s. The hand in that first picture sure is sexy  :D
Are you sure 190mA won't kill it?
If he says the same thing again, will it make it more believable to you?

Peace,
dave

Yes, as a matter of fact, it will

I and many others have ran the 6x diodes at 190mA for a long time with no problems. Now remember these were out of the GGW-H20L blu-ray burner. Are AMK's sleds the same? Most likely, but there is always a (very) small chance that the diodes could be different. Oh and these 6x sleds aren't a megnesium alloy like the PHR sleds. At least the ones from the GGW-H20L aren't.

So we can't set them on fire? :'(

We still can, it will just be harder to. If we have to we can make shavings of this sled and then ball mill it for a couple of days so it is fine powder, then we can mix it with a powerful oxidizer so it is flammable. :)

Yeah, could always make some flash powder! Although I don't recommend it.

Sooo pretty... :-X Didn't you say the beam looks "fuller" back in some other thread?
Is there any differences as far as wavelength/beam specs compared to the 803T?

I read that the 6x has a round beam! And they will probably be exactly 405nM because of there price.

Where did you read that? It has a flatter beam than the PHR, or if you are lucky, a fat beam. But by no means round...

the 6x has a 'full' pattern.

The PHR diode, when unfocused, you can tell that the strong part is just a stripe in the middle. The 6x is round, as in if you unfocus it, it appears as if the entire area it lit up evenly, rather than just having a strong center fading to the sides.
