I'll get those pictures up for you by tonight or tomorrow afternoon. Been busy with recovery and studying for a test tomorrow.. Sorry, priorities man.

No problem. I hate when life gets in the way of hobbies.

Pictures as requested, note, the focused dot looks very bright, and like 532. My apologies.

Can it cover a larga area when unfocused just like the 650nm and 405nm single modes or is it more limited like DPSS 532nm lasers?

Good question. It is very much like a "regular" diode. It has no attributes of DPSS as it isn't DPSS at all. This is green light coming from a diode, so it's everything you'd expect really.

Well I don't use it as a burner, all I know is that it can light matches when focused. I was lighting them for beamshots, other than that, I keep it on a strict duty cycle and haven't tired much.

However, I gave it a shot with some tape for you, and it melts electrical tape as well. Don't have balloons.

A 100mW 520nm laser should burn ever so slightly better than a 100mW 532nm laser. Not really noticeably so however. It will not burn as voraciously as a 100mW 405nm laser, however, and should be somewhat noticeable.

Hope that helps, IMO the only reason burning ability is good with these is because it signifies the higher wattage, and thus higher visibility. Like a side effect rather than the main event.

Thanks for all the pictures. Now we need Matt to make some Krytons with a 3.8mm heads.

It's a beautiful host and diode, and a great and informative build thread. Thank you, Bloompyle.

Does anyone know if someone has put a 520 in an MS-SSW yet? I wouldn't mind being the first...

If you've got any other non meter related questions, I'd love to answer them. :D

Scumbag, I don't think anyone has. There aren't that many 520 diy lasers made yet, and of those that have been made I have not seen a MSSSW done yet. I think most everyone who used them did so with high powered 445 or 635 builds.

Tape isn't bad for 100mW of green, thanks for testing! I'm certainly getting a 520nm eventually but I'll wait for ARG's long tests (and for my funds to increase again, just purchased a very cool but expensive laser).

Since you wanna answer more questions:
-How much does it heat up in comparison to a DPSS of the same power?
-Is the beam much dimmer than 532nm of the same power?

At night beam should be brighter than 532. Only during the day will you see slightly less visibility, however most people view beams in darkness so it should be brighter.

It doesn't produce too much heat, although its not being charged very hard. Dim how? It's a very wide beam like a diode which is something to get used to. It's not the super thin beam that we're used to with "green" lasers.

I'll take the beam profile for the diode with the lovely foresty green anyday...just the price, dag nabbit!
