Time to go raid Ben's house, hope he has a good non laser security system.

You get all the best toys man......

The complexity of the electronics has me wondering... There seems to be a lot going on in there.

Are all those PCB's just for looks?? I cant imagine needing that much complex circuitry to drive that diode:thinking:

Its more than likely a gas laser, not a diode. Not sure.

Man I love that color.

This is a 860nm single mode diode which is frequency doubled to 430nm using an external resonant cavity. That means it has a 4 mirror cavity, one of them on a Piezoelectric element, and a fast photo diode, the circuitry actively controls the piezoelectric element to keep the resonant cavity length exactly a multiple of both 860 and 430nm.

It actually needs all the circuitry to function, I have the first prototype unit they built, it is a lot more complex. There are less then 100 of these in existence, they were built specific for one company who made scanning confocal microscopes. When the company released a new product, they canceled this model.

Wow sounds like you got lucky with this one. It looks cool with all those electronics on it. Can i ask how much you paid for that one?

I thought the "10" in 430-10 D3 refered to the output power, but the warning sticker shows a 500mW max output.. What am I missing
