Youtube Spy

Not me. The first thing I did was put a piece of black tape over the camera when I got my laptop.

The 2 times I did use the camera, Flash popped up for an update right after.

HHMMM...

BTW if you add s.ytimg.com to your host file it pretty much screws up Youtube. :undecided:

First of all, THANK YOU for the find! This is kind of crazy stuff....

and Someones a little paranoid... :D

I would advise against blocking it altogether unless you don't mind youtube not working... clearly google stores some image files there.

Just update your flash settings.

article is old, and i think u manually have to allow it cam/mic access

most cameras nowadays have indicator lights when they are in use too

My laptop is only ~ a year old and has no indicator light. My GF's net book, and brand new Android tablet have no indicators either.

Some of you guys are missing the point. Its not the corporate, or legitimate content that you have to worry about. Its the content from phishers who plant exploits in those funny, geeky, or porn videos that everyone passes around.

These kinds of articles will always be relevant because there will always be a large amount of people that trust their software to protect them. My GF installed the new Norton Antivirus suit, and Malwarebytes found a spyware program bundled in the software. Apparently Norton stops spyware, but not the spyware that pays the Symantec company to bundle with their software.

Saw on Fox news last night the FBI and other government agencies are working on software to plug into Facebook, Twitter, ect, for monitoring of terrorist activities.

Our privacy was sold long ago. This should not be new news to anyone.

Hehe, well knowing that just takes the shame out of all my bad habits because if I'm ever confronted in the future by some gov officials at least I wont have to try explaining myself. 'What's the surprise sir, it's not like you didn't know' ;)

I know there are a lot of good things that can come from technology, but soon it will control our lives completely. Its close now. They are using license plate recondition right now to scan everyone's plates without a human interface. When its fully enforced they will catch any minor infraction you have. Including any past government records that are in the system. Once this technology goes to human, and its close, you wont be able to get away with ANYTHING. Which means your freedom only goes as far as what they let you have. For some reason people do not want to believe it, and are welcoming it with open arms. I dont get it. The people are suppose to control the government, not the other way around.

The government can spy on you whenever they want and pretty much steal whatever information they want.

But I do it ONE time!... :banned:

What's truly surprising to me is that some people still think they have privacy...

Ultimately the most anyone can do is make themselves hard or harder to track, but to truly have privacy, one would have to go completely off the grid :(

^ mmMMmmm as long as you're not Osama Bin Laden that's probably the best way

Ya, Unless you live on a Island in the middle of nowhere, you are under surveillance.

Thankfully I collect antique housewares, tools, ect. Makes jumping off the grid much easier.

Osama was on dialysis for a long time. He died of natural causes, and we made it look like it was our doing. If you knew any older people on dialysis you'd know they are not really a threat. I doubt he could even pick up a riffle.

Well faking your own death is another damn good way to hide. Hell look at how well it's been working for JFK - people are all too caught up on who shot him when the answer is most likely nobody
