XJ A130 discontinued

So, on Newegg and at BestBuy the XJ A130 is sold out and I have discovered the product is being discontinued. The XJ A140 is still available but I have a feeling it will be discontinued soon as well. Probably something to do with the heating problems for those that actually use the projector as a projector.

So my question, anyone know any other ways to acquire 445nm diodes besides the c4s10 projectors? Or are the A240 etc c4s10 projectors still good for harvesting 445nm diodes?

thanks,
Kendall

the XJ-A150 is $1300 minimum.. not really feasible.

That's techically $54 (so functionally $60-70?) per diode... way less than what we were paying for 12X diodes.

I'd be fine with that price.

I'm not happy with that price though. Others are selling the 445nm diodes for $38 each right now, to double that is not really acceptable.

Hey. Thread-jacking here (sorry), but who's selling for $38 right now?
Actually, let me pack in two questions while I'm at it - do you know of a Canadian 445nm diode source? (just cause I'd like to grab a few more in time for a break I have next week)

But if that were the only source, I doubt they'd move much slower. If anything fewer burning-happy children would get hold of lasers. I am okay with this. ;)

Amen to that!

If the price is not worth it to you, then do not buy!

I posted about the a-130s being no longer made more than a month ago.

stocks would eventually run out,
@ mfo
DTR did a GB on diodes from the 150 about a month+ ago too-try a search.
same diode for more $$- maybe better binned. same nm too afaik.

if the 130 has been EOL'd I'm sure the prices on the 140 and 150 will drop when a new tp end model is released.

k so no one knows any more source then I take it? And I bought 3 of the a140s just to stock up, price wasn't all that cheap compared to normal. I did find at Best Buy the a130 is marked way down at $699 but its sold out in all the stores around Houston, not available online either.

thx for the PM, I edited my OP. Haven't been too frequent of the forums lately due to work :-/

Ah well, its electronics, new models replace existing ones all the time. The A140 will probably side to the price point that the 130 was, and the 150 to the 140... The only reason the price would drop significantly is competition, but i don't think there are models from other manufacturers yet, right?

I haven't heard of any other projectors using 445nm lasers. I hope some competition does show up though.. normal projectors can be had for around $300.

We don´t know if the 150s have a higher wavelength than the 130/140s. It´s unlikely, but still possible. Afaik member qumfox is going to test them these days.

Btw, where is our blu-ray god?
