Hello folks!

I recently decided that my 593.5 pointer (<1mW) was not powerful enough, so I'd like to purchase a 593.5 in portable style (a PGL-III-C or similar). If you've got one of these and are willing to sell it, please PM me or comment below.

Thanks!

Didn't you buy a Rigel-6 from a member here? Aren't those rated for 5-9mW's?

-Alex

The Rigel-6 in question is significantly degraded, and typically doesn't exceed 1mW.

Most all of those do like 1-2 mW except a fair few sadly. even the base Vega does 2-5mW. its just so inefficient and touchy...even my lab laser is rated 50mW and not guaranteed tem00. (though its close after my babying a bit) its very unstable compared to what it could be. its pretty happy at a couple mW but past that it gets quite unhappy very fast. Good luck on your hunt-it could be hard to find one...

Yeah, and that's just the starting price!
The 2mW to 5mW 589nm models go up to $639 (reg. $689), and that's the sale price. No thank you.
You can always look on the bright side, they're 'in stock'!

I may get there someday, found these on ebay:

Edit: I already have a Coherent SHG crystal to sum 1064 and 1342 nm from this rod into to produce yellow, so should have some good power, once I get this all put together. I better get out of this thread with my projects, it's a WTB thread.

Yeah, 593.5 is definitely one of those 'pay to play' wavelengths. Very few options, high prices and not a good candidate for DIY. Luckily, my unbranded 593.5 CNI pen from laserfanatics seems to be pretty decent. For best results I run NIMH batteries and after it warms up it will do around 3-5mw generally. For the first minute warming up it's unstable as hell though. Mode hoping, varies between almost no output and high output, stops lasing entirely sometimes etc. I really don't like using alkalines in it because it seems like they struggle to supply it with enough power consistently. NIMH are much better for output stability.

Some sellers on eBay offer 5mW 473/594 pointers for $359. Much better price then what LG offers. $639 for 5mW of 589 is ridiculous when DL has them for $299 :)

Yeah, I considered buying one of the eBay units, but seeing as I already have a 593.5 pointer I'd rather purchase a 593.5 with a different type of host.

Having purchased a 20mW 593.5nm PGL-III-C from LaserCentury, I'd like to ask that this thread be locked. I no longer require a portable 593.5.
