World Cup Thread!

Paul is so awesome. Parry gripp even made a video :D "You pick the winner when you eat your dinner! Paul, the octopus we love you!"

Yeah so Paul was right again
I think he's the real winner of the world cup because in my opinion Spain doesn't deserve it. Especially because Iniesta shot the goal and and he's such a faker and caused the Dutch to get a red card.
A little unfair and not so nice to watch game
But the last game of Spain was amazing so grats
to the new world champion!

Iniesta should go into show-business...haven't seen acting that good since the Bogart days...either way the dude is a douche.

Exactly, now some say Iniesta is the best player of the world cup but :tsk:
He may be quite good but he should have get many yellow cards because of showplay

Interesting. How would this have worked with the eight legged wonder? I'm intrigued.

Not quite the same principle, but similar - we didn't hear about "Peter the psychic parakeet" or "Mike the magic mutt" because they failed, but the one animal that did get lucky each time has gradually got more and more attention - then the final "prediction", which was hyped up by the media, was merely luck on his part.

Survivorship bias - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Also bear in mind that this wasn't done in scientific conditions - perhaps he was influenced by his handler to go towards the bookie's favourite (Spain) somehow.

I see, so there could have been hundreds of random animals, randomly choosing teams and it just so happened Paul got them all right and therefore we remember him? Makes sense. It ain't necessarily spooky but beating odds that high is worth a story. I mean, he picked all the winners! Only Germany's to start with but hey, not one miss.

I wonder if he felt any pressure knowing that he could be avoiding being chosen himself. For a meal!

M
