Wicked- What exactly is wrong with them?

i bought a core when i was a freshman so like 2005-2006 and the first one broke pretty quick and the second one ended up getting stolen a few months later. but when i saw that their prices had dropped some i ordered an e3 lunar aug 8th and with everyone else i kept being lied to about when they were going to be shipped etc etc and it finally came on january 8th but i didnt get it till the 11th due to being at work when the mailman came. i was pretty impressed with it due to the fact that the only one i had before was the core but not even a week later the power button fell off (see the pic below) so i had to super glue it back on which caused problems because the button got stuck and other things but ive gotten it working now except now i have scratches from tools on the host.
i remembered this website that i had seen in the past and decided to look around and found the buy sell trade section and im now buying one of the dorcy's off of daguin :D

so i wouldnt recommend them to anyone in the near future if you dont want to wait months to get just an ok laser

When I got that 36 hour laser it was back in may. 5/7/10. Since then I have not ordered anything from them. The core I own I bought from a reseller in NY. My Executive series nexus (which I think would be called an e1?) Still works and is no different wlthen when I bought ign I have actually done a review on it here in the forums if you search wicked lasers executive nexus you should find it. It is overspec by 30-50 mw with an ir filter. I can't really measure divergance or beam thickness though it seems to be under 1.5mm. Overall I can say I was very pleased with it but I'm not sure I would buy from them again after seeing some of the things that went on after I bought mine. Maybe in the future ill buy myself a evolution, but until then. I would reccomend anyone to stay away from them. I really don't know how the new units are so I can't really reccomend them. If I ever get my settlement money ill grab a evolution and wait it out even if it takes a month and post my results.

Depending on where you live the FDA and Customs have been confiscating Wicked Lasers shipments, West Coast has been the worst. I won't do business with Wicked after ordering an Arctic on 6/20/2010 and canceling on 8/28/2010. They don't reply to emails and their phone service is a joke.

I ordered a WL 200mW E3 series (405nm) in november 1st, and arrived January 13th. I guess I ordered during a time where they were trying to catch up with 70k+ orders, so I understand why it took so long to ship the lasers. The laser itself is awesome so far. Very sexy and sleek design! feels very solid and so far it works like a charm. Only thing I can complain about is that it is not focusable, so I need a magnifying lens to burn anything.

I think they have pretty much caught up, or are getting close so you might not have to wait as long as the people that ordered it last august.

Well thats crazy. I'm sure jeff, Hmike and tonga arent lying about delivery times (though I'm sure the 36 hour delivery was long ago lol), so it must the quality of the lasers. Obviously some people never got their lasers, or had to wait half a year because of customs. And sure, they didn't handle the volume well at the time, nor that letter from the FDA lol, but a month and a half? If that's on a recent order it doesnt seem TOO bad.

What do you you guys with WL products say about the quality? Are they to spec? Sturdy? Still working? If their making their own lasers thats can't be good. Or can it? I certainly don't believe everything I read, be it HYPE or otherwise. However, that works both ways.

Like I said before I would buy another WL laser especially the Arctic. I would have bought another that was just for sale on LPF but my wife wants me to back off for a while and I should. As far as specs go the Arctic is rated by WL at <1.25 watts and I believe it is easily over 1watt. I have a Jayrob build that just by comparing specs should be putting out a little over 1 watt based on test data on LPF with the Micro Flex V5 setting. And this is just some comparison without a power meter but the Arctic is brighter than Jayrob's build. For whatever this is worth. But again WL's Arctic is KICK ASS NICE AND SOLID!!!!! As a customer I guess their product for me makes me partial to WL just like Jayrob's product makes me very partial to Jayrob. I would not hesitate to buy anything from either again even if it gets me a whoopin from my wife,.. just kidding, about the whoopin that is.

I purchased an Arctic myself back in June 2010. Last week I finally received it. In all I was never too worried or irked about the process, at least not until the new year rolled around at which point I began to get worried. I understood the risks as I placed my order the day the news article about Lucas Films C&D order came out. For a month I had been debating on buying it, already had the thing in my cart too.

What did make me angry is how people that ordered their laser months after me got their Arctics months before I got mine. How does that even happen? This was unacceptable as I can forgive unexpected demand, but not serving people in the back of the line while the guy at the counter has been waiting for hours. Anyways, they would always answer my emails up until about November of 2010, then nothing. I was going to explore options of getting my money back on it when I got slammed with some personal business this month and had forgotten about the whole mess until it came in the mail unexpectedly.

I've read a lot of other posts on here about problems with their batteries and goggles, but I think they've addressed those issues as mine came with a better rated battery and goggle set than I was seeing referenced in the negative reviews.

As my first hobby laser I think it's pretty awesome. I've never seen anything this stunning as far as a laser goes, at least not outside of a lab. So as long as it stays working I'll count it as a good buy.

I'm very curious to know what it's actual output is, so I'm anxiously awaiting Radiant to get in more Alphas. I would be very disappointed if it's in the 700-850mW range like I'm seeing others coming in at. I don't expect it to be spot on, or maybe I should, but at least within +/- 50mW of the advertised 1W. I'm holding out hope that since I ordered mine closer to the start of the backlog charlie foxtrot that the QC hadn't skimped yet.

I ordered my Arctic back before the Price jumped from 199 to 299 in July 2010, it took until after Christmas to get it. I live in Idaho, and True, Customs was pulling all WLs on the West Coast at SF, Ca. Mine was re-shipped from a WL operative in California, Axxx, Lxx, and I got it. Some say their Protective Glasses were no good, but mine block about 90% (2 pair) but the charger and batteries are trash. Mine, and I have a friend on the East Coast, that got a Arctic 445, I have played with both, actually, my 200mw greenie, is as bright at night or brighter. Also the beam, is not tight, and is rectangular in shape, will have to rework the optics. My friend, also got a 400mw, 405 O-like and he says it burns good. I ordered one, about the same time as him from O-like, but it was DOA, and had to RMA, and haven't got a replacement yet. Susie, at O-like is very nice, so now I will find out how good their support is. O-like do not have reverse polarity protection, so, if you do not put the battery in + to tail cap, it will fry the electronics, immediately, so use caution. I would be nice, if some of you gave me some "brownie points for credibility" tired of being a Peon.

Congratulations on getting it. I can only assume that maybe yours got confiscated in a large order that customs got a hold of. But hey, you got it. I have been through mine and I feel the Arctic and the glasses are just fine and would like to have another Arctic they are cool. The battery and the charger are probably best if properly disposed of. I use a AW battery and Ultrafire charger. Good Luck,

I ordered my Spyder III Arctic + Expandable Lens on 25 Nov 2010 and got my Laser on the 24 Jan 2011. Though they couldn't fulfil the promise of their Black Friday advertisement, at least they propose to give a free tripod for the delay.

Could there be an issue with your customs?
