Agreed, but again, how are those listings related to this thread? Original price was high but aside from that, what set off alarms that this is a scam in any way?

Also why not just use a middle man to eliminate the problem altogether. If a seller is specifically not willing to use a middle man that should be a HUGE red flag.

Just a suggestion for a stickie, but it could help. Why not mandate the use of a middle man for sales by all member with below a certain post or rep count? Than if a middle man is not used, the buyer has no one else to blame but himself.

(I know the "Read Before You Send Your Money" thread covers this, but a different approach might do better and eliminate all this hostility. A basic thread - "All Sales By New Members Should Use Middle Men" - Maybe charge a small middle man fee?)

@ Lotus- after creating quite the vapor-scandal out of thin air, I believe you need to answer InfinitusEquitas' questions to set things straight. I am very confused as to why this is still going on. Ive provided MORE than adequate evidence to support my sale. You have yet to really provide any substance to this thread whatsoever. All you have done is raise suspicions, while simultaneously being PROVED wrong time and time again. I have repeatedly asked you to PM me, instead of dirtying up my thread, and you are unable to meet me on those grounds. Either provide something useful, informative, constructive, or please just go read a book :thanks:

Have you noticed how T_J has been so quiet lately. I rest assured the PM I sent him made him understand things under a different light. I am not willing to PM every asshat that has suspicions, as it is completely unnecessary.

Ok, but what wasn't he upfront about?

-If he is dealing with some kind of a personal problem I'd be more suspicious if he actually came out and said something like "I need to pay for my mom's chemo."

-He's been very responsive, and did exactly what he was asked to do... post a pic with hiw LPF info - not just generic pictures.

-As far as setting the price, and being in a bind for money... just because money is needed fast, doesn't mean it's needed super fast. Usually when crap happens to me, as it often does, I can put things off for a little while to get a handle on matters.

I'm all for being skeptical, paranoid, and protective of fellow LPFers, but why can't we go about it in a more friendly and civil manner that welcomes new members instead of making them feel like criminals?

What My AR-15 in the background? Im the only person in the US owning a black rifle, i mean FDE rifle, LOL. Wow this has gone to levels I only thought possible in movies. You guys are something else, I'll tell you.

Your logic is extremely refreshing. I guess the basis for them thinking the other listing was mine was because I have a rifle in my picture, and the guy on texas had his sitting next to pistols. That is the only thing I recognize tying me to those threads, anyone see something different?

I will SOMETIMES accept a single coincidence. Multiple coincidences raise a flag for me.

@crabapple - if you aren't gonna use a middle man, please post the results once you get the laser. Personally I'm confident that this isn't a scam in any way, but I have been wrong in the past, and you posting that everything is as advertised should help settle matters once and for all.

Not an accusation, just a couple of questions for consideration . . . .

At what level does asking too much for an item (because of personal need or any other reason) become a SCAM?

If he had asked for $550 and dropped the price to $500 would you still feel "confident"?

There are many more kinds of "SCAMS" than just taking money and shipping nothing or shipping trash ;)

Is the guy who stands on the corner, asking for change for food, SCAMMING anyone if he spends the money on alcohol instead?

If a person gets someone to pay a higher price for something because his mother needs an operation and his mother is healthy, is that a SCAM?

Also, there is a such thing as putting too much confidence in someone. What if there comes a time when someone is indeed scamming (this is still up in the air in this case), and you keep telling everyone not to be suspicious and to trust the person.

Someone newer sees you telling everyone you think he's trustworthy, and they end up biting on the sale. What would you say in defense to them complaining about getting scammed?. Yes, it's a hypothetical scenario, but it could potentially happen at one point.

I'm not trying to start a quarrel with you, Infinitus, but with the scams that have happened plenty on these forums, and outside the forums (just everyday life), how can you be so quick to shoot down suspicions?
 
All I can say is... We'll just have to wait and see. I am personally more interested in how the people that were so accusatory will act when he gets his laser in the condition it was listed at. I am positive it will blow over, and nothing will be said. But in the back of my mind, it will be a very satisfying victory.

I am going to personally ask you, Lotus Flower, how would you respond if everything goes well? Will you put 1/10 the energy into tho\is thread as you have while playing "to catch a scammer"? Something tells me from your personality shown so far, that I highly doubt it.
