Why there is a big difference ?

Hi all ,
I want to know this :
On a store there is a blue laser with 1000mw power that costs USD 140.98.
And on dragonlasers a 50mw blue laser is US$699.99.

Why this hight difference ? What changes between them ? And why a 50mw costs more than 1000mw ?

I have the blue 1000mw laser , It's very good , It burns everything and in a very little time (It's focusable).
Some people tells it's not 1000mw but 890mw , anyway very good.

I cannot tell where I bought the blue laser 1000mw on this post because many people can think it's spam.

are they 445 or 473nm? im pretty sure the 1w is a 445nm but can you tell us the wavelength of the 50mw laser? 445nm is produced directly by a diode. 473nm uses frequency doubling of an ir laser diode to produce 473nm.

The 1000mw (1 W) blue laser is 450nm
The 50mw blue laser is 473nm

And can you explain why 473nm costs more ?

Actually, it's not the pump diode that is frequency doubled. ;)

473nm costs more because the technology used to create this wavelength (search DPSS) requires the use of complicated optics that are less efficient than a "direct injected" diode like the 445nm laser diode.

Here is a diagram of a green DPSS laser. Its the same principle.

The two crystals used fro green are:
Neodymium Doped Yttrium Orthvanadate (Nd:YVO4) and
Potassium Titanium Oxide Phosphate (KTiOPO4 )
The first one changes the 808nm (infrared) light to 1064nm and the second crystal doubles the frequency of the 1064nm (higher ir) light (causing the wavelength to split by 1/2) to 532nm (visible green).
Blue lasers (473nm) are similar, but use different crystals.

473nm is a different (lighter) blue than 445nm dark blue.
473nm is much more difficult to produce in a hand held laser and more expensive.
DPSS is an acronym for Diode Pumped Solid State, and it means that the laser light passes through crystals to change the color to light blue and they can typically be found at powers less than 75mW for $1000.
445nm lasers are direct-diode (cheaper to produce) and powers can be more than 1000mW for $175.
Other differences are the beam diameter is much larger and the divergence is very poor on the 445nm lasers due to them being multi-mode diodes.
