If I may post something that is on topic! 
The reason IMHO for the hate about laser is the same type of hate when you hear a 1200 watt stereo thumping from 3 blocks away.
If its not yours then its annoying.
Same with lasers. Pointing it at the movie screen or a KISS might be funny to you but it is almost guaranteed to tick off everybody.
Lasing, like bass mechanics is fringe fun. Not and that means most dont like it more than once.
