Why is my 532nm Laser doing this?

Hello,

I bought a 532nm 500mW laser from JetLasers(Love them).

Lately when I put the lithium-ion battery and turn it on, all I see is a very dim green dot for 1/2 a second then it turns off, I have to re-click the button to turn it back on again and see the green dot(flash).

This is the laser itself, maybe the tailcap is blocking the battery connection?

to test if its the tail cap or not; put the batteries in and keep the tailcap off. Take a coin and place (flat if possible) on the battery end and the laser host. this will act like the tailcap and complete the connection. if the laser stays on then problem is your tailcap. if the laser acts the same problem is the module or driver.

How do you want me to turn it on? I need the tailcap, the switch is on the back.

the switch is just a bridge to complete the circut. a coin works the same way. just set it on the end of the laser.

I did it, nothing came on. Just was blank, no dot.

I mean JetLasers are realiable, I don't know why this is happening for some reason..

did the battery make contact with the coin? or does it move around inside?

as mentioned if your bridge the gap between the battery and host like i mentioned then a tailcap is useless. If nothing came out when you bridge the gap then the issue is with your module or driver not the tailcap

I put the battery, then the coin on top= Nothing
Put battery in, then coin on top, then tailcap=Nothing

coin needs to be bigg enough to touch the battery AND host. using a dime or penny wont do crap. you need a quarter or a larger piece of metal. use a knife if you have to

EDIT: coin doesnt go inside the laser. it needs to BRIDGE the gap not sit in the gap

Well what really confuses me is the flash,

I mean, that shows that the battery is making contact. Why it shuts off is weird, someone said it might be the battery itself shutting off, but I have tried multiple batteries, all with no success.

The laser itself has a 1 year warranty. So they said they would ship me another one.

Aren't green laser the most delicate also? *Curious*

A wire from the outside of the host to the battery works best. If you don't have any wire you can try some tinfoil :beer:

Edit: it sounds like a faulty switch. We want you to bypass it to rule out loose connections elsewhere.

So you mean put aluminum inside the tailcap?

Im getting confused, just put aluminum on the battery?

Yes, leave the tailcap off, put the battery in like normal and touch the tinfoil to the battery and the host. The laser should turn on.

Nope, tried it with a coin(blah) no light, nothing.

A coin may not work. It depends on how the battery compartment is shaped. Want me to take a photo of what you should be doing?
