now that im back into the hobby, I want to finally build a 700mw+ greenie. im sort of on a budget right now so which one has the best divergence, the NUGM03 or NUGM02? I plan on leaving the can on since me and open cans don't get along. im actually betting on the 525nm having the lowest Mrads. that's why I need yalls help. thanks

Hi, Richie,
I understand about you not having luck with open can diodes. it took me a few mishaps to finally get the hang of it. But now its no issue. I jus ordered some500/700mW 520nm diodes and they have a can and window . If lucky might be here in a week or a little longer. I have some plans for them in a S11 convoy copper sink with 2X26350 batteries G8 lens or G2 what ever will work the best with this diode . I just built a 03 with at the ball lens 2X18650 its on my sales page. I also machined an adapter to use a 3X BE with it or without it .

Hey Rich, sorry I haven’t been on in a week or so. Yeah I think I’m gonna go for it again with the open can. Man those builds you have are just incredible man. Makes me wish I could order another from you. I still have the 2 10440 cell 9mm I got from you 2 years ago. I don’t use it much but it still works flawlessly, I guess I’m just too afraid to push that thing too hard. After all it’s 2.8W in a 12mm apx head. Heats up super fast!
So I ultimately decided on the NUGM03 from Jordan. Got here a couple days ago and I’m just waiting on some time to assemble it :) I tested it with a 1.2a driver laying around and it’s as bright as I imagined. I’m probably gonna go to the max of 1.8a hopefully it can handle it. Thanks for the reply earlier :D

Hi ,
Glad you like the build from me ,Makes me feel good to know a customer is enjoying it.
The 03 / 525nm diode is great , I did open cans with them and I never had any trouble honestly. The Diode does well with e 3X beam expander with a G8 lens . The 03 at 1.8 should be ok with a responsible duty cycle and good heat sinking. The green high power get hot Im sure more than the blues. Well would like to see it lit up soon...

You could actually push it harder than 1.8 amps if you wanted to. I have an NDG7475 doing 1100 mW with a 2 element lens. The NUGM03 is a similar diode.
ive been busy, sorry for that. that's really good to know because I was almost having second thoughts on going to 1800. I think ill start today, ive got everything I need now. I really wanted the NDG7475 but didn't have the money at the moment, I cant even comprehend 1100mw. I am definitely excited to see how much power mine will be putting out :)

most definitely :)
yeah I actually plan on heat sinking the driver even though ive never had to do that at 1.8. but i have a couple little Al heatsinks laying around, might as well Lol. i plan on getting it done today or tomorrow now that i have everything i need. ill ceetainly post them here :)

Hi ,
Also in the works is a S11 with a CU sink and adapter it will hold 2X26350 batteries , The machine work is done just waiting on the 22mm contact board to be fabricated and shipped. I have those new Sharp 520nm diode rated for 500/700mW's but need to see how efficient they are to get past 700mW's. 700 or 800mW's should be great for this build.

I would definitely say so! What a time to get back into this hobby. You say 25350? That would be a good cell for my flashlight hobby. Companies are too far into the 21700 phase. Which is a great battery, only bad thing is 21700 won’t fit in most 18650 chargers like my Nitecore intellicharge and LUC. Anyhoo! I can’t wait to see the new build :D

Hi,
I just edited the battery size its 26350 not 25350, I have machined a host for the 21700 battery some time back and still have some 21700's in stock. Waiting for the contact boards are the only thing pending for the build.

okay that makes more sense lol! I really only have one thing that a 21700, my Klarus XT21X, wicked bright too! that 21700 host laser is gonna be so cool when that's done ;), its crazy to see just how many different types of Liion cells exist.
