Where to find a 2400 nm laser?

Holmium:YAG - 2100nm Thulium:YAG - 2000nm with 100nm width tunability
Admittedly I don't know much about them, but they are right in your 1500-2400nm "wheelhouse".
 





That is a region best covered by a optical parametric oscillator (OPO) or a Difference Frequency generator. (DFG) For a diode laser, a Quantum Cascade laser may be a option in the near future.

The company I work for makes pulsed lasers with internal OPOs. These may meet your need, but the baseline cost is roughly 40K$ and shipping for a laser that covers ^430 to 750 and 750 to 2290. Tuning is in 0.1 nm steps on our product.

1550 is a common telecom wavelength, and is a stock diode.

That explains why I see so many 1550nm systems from Coherent and Thorlabs on the bay.
 
Hey, just found out that the wavelength should be about 3-2.5 micrometer. Are there any high powered lasers available in that range commercially that won't destroy my wallet? If not, I'm looking at making an er yag diode pumped laser, but I can't find a small enough crystal. Is there a particular reason diode pumped lasers can't use the longer rods?
 
No, there is not. You just need more emitters to do the pumping, otherwise things become inefficient. The longer rods are usually side pumped by multiple diode arrays. Each array might have something like 10 individual emitters. Lower energy atoms will reabsorb the light and waste energy.
