What guitar do you own ?

27-year old Alvarez DY52 - best acoustic I've ever played

An Ibanez ARX-120 - Except for the pickups (which are the best I've ever seen/heard on a stock guitar, BTW), easily matches or exceeds any Les Paul or Schecter I've ever played. Only $300, too.

another Ibanez - this time an Artcore something-or-other. It looks beautiful, but sounds like crap due to the TERRIBLE pickups. I keep it hanging on the wall just so it can look prettier than my other guitars.

2 Squire Strats - They are both crap. Both have crapped out on me several times, and are a nasty mix of parts from Stew-Mac. (Don't get squires, get the real thing!)

All played through a Line 6 Spider Valve 212. Which happens to be the best mix of a modeling amp and a classic tube amp ever made. :D

Don't get a b.c. rich warlock (or similar looking guitar)... every noob has one of those. I know there are a few different kinds, the expensive warlock is actually pretty nice (as is the one you posted, i'm sure) but every kid out there has the $250 cheapie version and tells everyone its the most bad ass guitar ever.

I would really recommend a Jackson. They're all I play. I've played gibsons, fenders, ibanez, esp (these would be my second choice), pretty much every major brand you can think of, but nothing beats the Jackson Soloist series. The neck through design makes them sound killer, the action is so low a baby could play it (yet it still doesn't have fret buzz), and they're just good quality guitars. Mine retailed for around $1300, but I got it for $850 about 6 years ago. BUT my first jackson was killer too, it was a cheap JS-20 Dinky. 200 bucks but the action was still good and it sounded decent right out of the box (and even better later, because I added a complete set of EMG active pickups... hence my e-mail address that I created when I first bought the guitar about 12 years ago)

lol yeah ive noticed this about the warlocks, everyone has them, and they aren't that great.
what can you recommend to a 16 year old who doesn't wanna spend anything more than $250, is this unreasonable? I really cant see myself paying near $1000 for a guitar lol.

30 year old Martin D-35 Acoustic :) Nary a scratch on it.

Mike

I got an old Guild f-312 I think not sure I forgot the model. Its a 12 string that my dad found in his apartment when he first came to the states. Its made in the late 60's but the tone of it is so beautiful.

I am nw saving for a Tom Delonge Strat (preferbly the Surf Green I love that color) Its a Great guitar with a great invader Pickup.

Get one of the jackson dinky's... a JS-20 was my first guitar. $200. I learned to shred like crazy on that thing, so when I jumped up to a $1000+ guitar after about 8 years of playing, it was like I had the power of god in my fingers ;D

Here is a link to my first guitar:

Its about $30 more expencive now, but you cant really get any better for a first electric, IMO.

Taylor accoustics are beautiaful, they are better than martin accoustics which cost $5000-$10000, taylors cost a good bit less but they are really nice.

And as for squires I think they are pretty good for a cheap guitar.Mines is a little modified, I sanded down the neck, re-aligned the pick ups and changed one of the pots, now it sounds great, but the best guitar i ever played was either a Taylor accoustic or a Yamaha SG2000 or an Ibanez.

My 30-40 year old Yamaha G-240II also has beautiaful tone, when its got strings on it that aren't 6 months old that is, it never goes out of tune either which is great.

Then theres my music man bass, its really nice, great sound and feel, relatively short/thin neck for a bass, must be about 10 years old now its worth about £1600, but it was part of a pair, dont know who has the other one now, but the other one was fretless and if they were together would be worth A LOT more.

lol the word Dinky sure wouldn't make me buy a guitar, but ill take your word on it. My birthday is comming up in 2 months from today, I should ask for it for my birthday, or maybe ill just save up, i think ill search some youtube videos for this guitar.

i may want to get this guitar, but before i do, any other's you can suggest for the around 250$ price.

you might manage to get a fender strat or telecaster, if your lucky. They are nice guitars.

I've never seen a Taylor acoustic. My Martin D-35 is old -- Vin 1972. I think they started building some in Japan. I think it was called a Smegma or something. I've only let 4 other people play my Martin.
OH -- I play Blurgrass ---- ;D

I own a Regal Blues guitar. Unfortunately, I'm better at harp than guitar but it's not all bad when playing the blues.
