Hey All, What do you guys think of Techlasers? Are they as advertised? Hows shipping? Any probs with customs? I heard they are made by CNI is that true? I'm just a potential buyer who wants to know whats up! ;D

Thanks
-Tony

I've read stories about bad customer service and bad quality control. And they have that fraudulent feel because of those tables on their site with price comparisons on equivalent units from other companies. They're only cheaper because they don't bother to pay for QC or customer service so all in all, you have more chance of getting a bad unit and nobody caring to help you with that.

They're also affiliated to, or the same company as WL, which have the worst reputation mainly for they're ridiculously overpriced units and their lies about many things.

Well, that sounds a bit biased. Not unless you bought ten, tested them all and at least 6 were underspec mode hopping pieces of crap. ::) They're still made by CNI you know.

One of the benefits of an community such as this, is that ONE PERSON doesn't have to buy 100 units to tell if the quality control or customer service is bad.  There are 800 of us that try things out AND talk to yet another 1000 or so users.  Techlasers has a bad reputation among knowledgeable users.  If you decide to use them you are taking a larger than needed chance that your laser will be below specs and that they will ignore your pleas for help when it is.

Peace,
dave

their lack of quality control got me a whole different laser than what was paid for >:( >50mW instead of <20 ;D but thats rare...very rare...

Techlasers is an affiliate of WL.
It's obvious in their marketing and advertising techniques as well as their products.
And they charge a lot for shipping.

Get that Alpha you were considering... You know you want it...
You won't be disappointed.
Hell, you can probably even ask them to pick you a good one and they'll do it.
If you want a reliable, good priced laser with good customer support and (most likely) freebies, go with Nova. Besides, they're based in North America.
(Assuming you live in the US)

I BOUGHT A INFINITY 95 FROM THEM THE BUTTON BROKE I REPLACED MYSELF BEEN A VERY RELIABLE UNIT oops its not capps lock day anymore sorry they are a cni seller just like nova I say Go nova

I'm no expert but I bought an Infinity 95mW about 4 months ago when they had the summer sale.  It came with the dragon case, laser glasses, magnifying cap covers, and some glass optics/prisms.  It is actually slightly overpowered to the tune of 117mW's.  It will peak around 125mW's or so.  I sent the serial number to CNI and they verified the manufacturing date and power rating.  In my opinion, the equipment is all first rate and the laser is running very strong.  Maybe i got lucky, but I would think a company would have a hard time staying in business if they continued to sell junk.  Also, their shipping was like 3 days UPS to Alabama :)  I can't rate their customer service on returns because thankfully it wasn't needed.  So IMHO...for the price I think Techlasers is a good deal compared to the price of others.  Especially if all you are going to use it for is to shine at the moon or pop balloons.  Now if you want continuous duty then perhaps Nova or Optotronics, and LaserGlow would be better in that circumstance.

Nova X-Series 100mW = $209.00
TechLasers 95mW = $135.00
Optotronics 65+mW = $122.00

Maybe the Optotronics is a better/safer deal if the 65+ mW's meets your needs.

There are more people that don't know about laser output and behavior than people who do.

Like i said..."I'm no expert"...So this statement does pertain to me ;D  So take my advice with a grain of salt ::)

I DID buy the Techlaser when I was much less informed. After being on this forum and learning, I may have made a different choice. But I don't regret the purchase...Yet!
