What browser do LPFers use?

Opera 10.51 will kick chrome on the peackeepers test as soon as peacekeepers recognizes it. I use Opera mobile for my nokia too.

If you don't think integrated IRC, mail, torrent, web server and free integrated data sync with all your other Opera instalations is enough difference, then I don't know what it is. I asume you didn't really test all the options, just opened the browser and used it for a minute to make a google search. That obvously makes no difference.

I use Chrome. And wow.

Insanely quick, separate processes for each tab to prevent data loss, of course the things that ninja mentioned in his post, add-ons are available now, you can synch your bookmarks via the browser without an add-on, and... well, it's made by google. In my opinion, google is one of the greatest companies to ever enter the tech/web field.

Anything and everything you do in their browser, they own. They log every site you visit, they log every search you make. They read your emails and use that information to advertise to you. Far too creepy for my tastes.

Well, I do trust google pretty well actually. But while your data may be tracked, it's not tied to you personally(meaning you as a person not a computer). It's just info in a database. And unfortunately, most major sites DO record data now. I mean, just look at myspace! But Google is and always really has been on the forefront of open-source technology and innovation. Besides, any time you sign up for a bank account, they take more info than google will have on you. There's always the issue of trust with 3rd parties, but... its unavoidable. And I plan on working for google after college, if all goes as planned, so there's that

No, I have used opera, and it's a really good browser in its own right, but it's just not for me. I don't need everything integrated into one application, I like having different programs for most of my tasks.
Also, the last time I used opera (Sometime in version 10...) it had really poor Linux integration for GTK themes, especially the darker ones that I tend to use. I'm also a bit of an open source stickler, so Opera's proprietary status bugs me. (Although I have to admit that Chromium's current license state, albeit open source, is a real cross-license mess.)

@Haloblu, it's MUCH faster than any other browser for me on linux, especially firefox. It opens about as fast as the GNOME calculator , and page rendering is ridiculously fast. It makes me believe I have a faster internet connection.

If any of you are loyal firefox users, I would highly suggest giving Chrome and Opera a try; If you're interested in Opera I would definitely check out the aforementioned thread by hallucynogenyc. If you're interested in chrome but are hopelessly attached to a certain firefox addon, I would suggest checking here to see if there is a chrome alternative in existence or in the works! A lot of the major ones have Chrome equivalents.

I'm not saying Firefox is BAD by any stretch of the imagination, I'm just suggesting you try to broaden your web browsing horizon so to speak Remember, competition is what drives innovation!

@Laserbee, nah I didn't get upset or anything, that would be silly I honestly wasn't sure if this thread warranted deletion or not is all.

I'm pretty much 70% chrome and 30% Opera. I used to do firefox, but I never really needed all of those extensions, so I use the two that are the fastest.
