I would like you to spend 20 minutes of your life in downloading, installing and trying Opera, then telling me about the experience.

Download link (8.7MB only): http://www.opera.com/download/get.pl?id=32261&thanks=true&sub=true

Also, for the ones that are already using it, or already tested it and didn't like it, here are some links to some features that may change your opinion ;)

I recommend to everyone planning or already using it to read them all since I find them all very useful.

1.-Speed dial, the 3 ways to use it: Opera Browser video tutorials

2.-Opera link, Opera Link - Getting started

3.-Opera turbo Opera: browser tips Keep in mind that this only works when the connection is busy, turning it on in normal conditions or when your pc is saturated will only make it even slower.

4.-Visual tabs Opera: browser tips

5.-Closed tabsOpera: browser tips

6.-Full text webs history quick find Opera: browser tips

7.-Custom searches (works on lpf ofc) Opera: browser tips

8.- Search as-you-type Opera: browser tips additional tip: use F3 to jump through the finds

9.- Opera mail : Opera Mail | Your e-mail has a new home

10.- Mouse gestures: Opera Tutorials

Any doubt is welcomed ;)

Yours,
Albert

This thread is now about Firefox.

Could you please answer me on the another thread?

The question is: "what addons did you miss so much? I say this because half ofthe addons on FF are to do things Opera can do by default... Also, a part from that, was there any other con?"

Yours,
Albert

Well, adblock mostly, also the 4chan addon. The only other con was that I'm so used to FF that Opera looked strange somehow.

I do not see any rather significant difference, therefore no need to use it. "Faster" is debatable. I also like speed dial FF better as it uses the whole page, not just the middle. GF Opera.

Opera have and adblocker included by default, you can find how to configure and use it here:

Opera Help: Content Blocking

Also, there is an addon that works similar than adblock, you can fnd it here:

AdSweep - An ad blocker for your favorite web browser (like Adblock)

For the 4chan, there's the opera version:

4chan UserJS Script

Also, for the look, there are a lot of skins that might help you :)

I prefer Firefox.

Why, I'm looking for reasons!

Well, it's better than any browser I've tried. But that's not much.

Have you tried all the tips I stated on the list on the first post? Those features together with the considerable speed increase makes a big difference for me!

The look and size of the speed dial can be modified with the "configure speed dial" button on the own speed dial. Faster is not really debatable, check any reliable speed test and you will see, and remember the tests atm were made with opera 9.6, while this versions is suposed to be a 40% faster!

Obviously, if you just opened the browser and opened google you couldn't see any difference, may you try the 10 features I stated on the first post?

Albert

It's cool how you can translate anything by double clicking it. I tested it with my sig.I think I'll use opera from now on. Just because it's easier to translate stuff.

I didn't even wrote about this amazing feature since at the end it's just leading you to yahoo translator, and this can also be done on FF with an add-on, but I'm glad you liked it.

If you find that yahoo translator doesn't work so good, you can create a custom search to any on-line translator. this way you will only have to copy and paste the text to the navigation bar and then putting the keyword at the beginning to get the translation.

Custom searches are really useful ;)

Thanks a lot for the PM Hallucynogenyc, you saved my lazy ass :D
So far I can say that I think the Opera layout is superior, now my spell check actually works with LPF and everything has become noticeably quicker. I am currently forced to "borrow" Internet connection from my neighbour so it really helps to have pages load faster.
I'll hit you back when I've used the different features some more.. It is definitely a superior browser to the others I have tried before.. although they were limited to only IE, Safari, Firefox and a previous version of Opera, I would say these are the most commonly used browsers.. and this one beats them all.

Come on guys, just 20 minutes please!

It seems that for you to beg me to use this Browser....
there must be something in it for you....

So.... what do YOU gain from me using Opera....
Why are you pushing everyone to switch to this Browser...:undecided:

Not according to these tests.

You should read that whole review, then you'll get the numbers are not exact. Especially not Chrome's.

There's nothing in this for me either and I've been promoting Opera even before he had joined LPF. Seems like you've never ran accross such a good piece of software like Opera that it makes you suggest it to everybody you know. Also, I want IE and FF to get buried deep down to let Opera be the ruler! Imagine how good it'd be to install an OS and have Opera installed instead of IE. The only time I open IE on a personal computer is to download Opera.
One Opera to find them all... ;)

Not according to these tests.

This is because Opera doesn't use so many cache, if you configure it to save in cache everything I'm sure it will have way better results, so, for me having a better score in "opening faster with 8 tabs on default settings" isn't really important.

I checked the full tests and well, you copied the only graph in which FF outperforms Opera, because in all the others is just a battle between Chrome and Opera! Just read the title "Browser Speed Tests: Chrome 4.0 and Opera 10 Take On All Challengers"

Look at this one lol

Because it's really funny that while Opera has proved to be the best several times, and every friend I've showed it to has loved it, only a 2% of the users use it. Also, most of the times I ask someone about it, he tells me that he didn't know what Opera was and after testing it ends up with it, this leads me to think the lack of information is the main problem.

In this forum there is a lot of people I like (including you :p) that as I supposed aren't using it mainly for lack of information, and as I am really convinced that after testing it you'll be glad that I made the thread (Silvershot, Jaseth and Invader Zim for instance), I've made the thread for "educational" purposes only.

I'm no way getting paid or anything for doing this >.>

yeah well, they already say these are not serious tests and keep in mind they are using XP, while Opera is being made for Vista mainly (also, if there were Linux or Mac comparatives I've heard Opera also Kick-ass xD)
