Wanna make my own cheap show, dont have any equipment

Ahh..

in that case you'll need something that uses true galvos, not steppers. About the only Chinese projectors I recommend personally are those made by LKI. You can email them for a price quote. The DMX card will be built into them from the factory, so all you need to do very basic shows is a DMX controller.

whats the difference between galvos and steppers?
i hope they are not expensive...

Actually, galvos are not significantly more expensive than steppers these days, but they are MUCH faster and more accurate, which means better, cleaner output.

I can't say for sure, since it depends on what system you're interested in, but I'd expect to pay at least $300 for for a green-only system from them.. I doubt that they've got much below that cost level.

Keep in mind that we are talking about laser projectors. While the cost of such things has dropped dramatically in the last few years, you'll still have to cough up a little cash for anything that's worth having.

just got a large PDF with laser systems, and many are cheap. For example for 180 dollars a red+green laser system with 20kpps CNI thingy. I have no idea what this means though.

^Remember that most times with cheap Chinese you get what you pay for. Other than the possibility of being very crappy, those cheap systems will likely work for your own private fun.

i hate to be the party pooper but it just dawned on me that you can't even fix your own phr in a flash light host. making a projector is about a bazillion times harder.

ps... i realize the phr was built by darkarmyofone so i understand it was probably made using hopes and dreams LoL.

michael.

thats why im not building it, but buying it. did you wear your glasses during play time? :p

to be honest, i rarely wear my goggles. i don't do burning much. but i will definitely be wearing goggles when it come time for me to align my beams in my scanner.

ah thats why you misread my post.
This is a example of what can happen people! :p

^You and me both.. and I definitely would say that Spaghetti has come a good ways since it was first created, both in terms of stability and usefulness.. but IMO I can no longer recommend it as a good value. It's Gary's product, though, so he can charge whatever he wants..

Really? And how much do you think it is worth considering that I have spent about 3 yrs of my free time working on it?

It's not for me to decide that Gary. All I can tell you is that I don't feel comfortable recommending it as a value option. Frequently I have experienced bugs and glitches in the software that would normally not be nearly as prevalent in a piece of professionally developed software. All software has bugs, but it is obvious that Spaghetti is the brainchild of one person in their spare time. I'm not saying you should give it away, but Spaghetti is young yet. We're not talking about something developed by Adobe, Microsoft, or Apple. We're talking about something you make in your spare time. $120 is a lot to ask for a piece of homebrew software in my opinion.

If a person is interested in buying Spaghetti, and then a DAC to go with it they are already spending a bit of cash.. it wouldn't be much for someone to save up for a tad longer and buy Quickshow, which is 10x the package that Spaghetti is no matter what kind of DAC you use it with. Thus IMO when compared to other, more professional packages, Spaghetti loses some value at it's current price.

I've already said that it's your software. You can charge what you wish for it.. It's not anyone else's place to make that call.

Im having a hard time to decide. They have like 10 systems below 150 dollar that im interested in...all step scanner though. Will it really matter for some homebrew party with <50 guys?
I just want to have the device change its patterns upon the music, and let me control it with a dmx board.
Talking about dmx? Wich one is cheap and usable witth those chinese laser systems?

That's your opinion and it is as valid as the next persons. But I should state that with Spaghetti you continue to get free updates and I try to add features that customers request. For example, I gave you 2 extra licenses for free to work in your environment. From the time you bought your license I added things like DMX, TTL, multiple projector support, text, effects layers, video output. I'll also soon be adding a laser camera application, windows media plug in, ILDA file optimization, and some other extras to the application suite for free. Additionally, I will be adding another feature that I am not able to talk about right now that you will not have with Quickshow but would be very cool for you since you have a sound card. There will also be a live player to go with it sometime in the future.

Quickshow is a nice package from what I have heard. But, the DAC itself is costs about $50 to make, if that. Enjoy your $550 Quickshow application.

Lets please take that discussion somewhere else. I dont need software yet.
If the times comes i probaly buy the cheapest as well, lol.
