Hi there, So does anyone know of a good visualizer software that will play to my music on my computer. Preferably one with 1080p resolution as I will be hooking this up to my flat screen.

Eletric sheep is a great one....I have it also. But if you are talking about visualizations like you would see at a club then suggest resolume or archos. They have beat detection settings so you can sync visulas to music.

Here is my favorite visualization software. I've used it at quite a few events as a backdrop on huge view screens. It's simple to use and requires no user input while running (although you can control every aspect in real time if you want to..).

I would really like to download Neon the visualizer that is on the xbox360 but I cannot seem to find a page that lets me download the full program. Anybody?

A quick google search came up with this: Neon
Interestingly it seems it was coded by the same guy who wrote Attack of the Mutant Space Camels for the commodore 64... But yeah, since it was bought by MS I'm sure he's not allowed to distribute it.

Another good one is milkdrop: MilkDrop plug-in for Winamp
It's usually distributed as a plugin for media players, though I think there's a standalone version somewhere... Also, there's an opensorce clone called projectM which is available for linux and mac and has a standalone version: projectM

I've also heard the Magnetosphere plugin that comes with the latest version of iTunes is pretty cool.

is the sheep visualizer only usable when you are online?

Nope, it works offline, though it needs to download its data files to start out... Once you've let it sit for an hour or two it'll work fine whether you're connected to the net or not, but it'll be the same animations over and over until you go online again so it can download more.

The visualizations it makes aren't rendered on the fly, they're pre-computed and pre-rendered by every computer that's running the program.. They're rendered as MPEG files and downloaded by bittorrent while your computer is idle.

nice thank you

what if i have my computer on for say 4 hours and then turn it off and go somewhere that doesnt have internet? will it still save those 4 hours worth of streaming?

Yes, once you have downloaded the files they remain on your computer.
