You can get a crate 572 from GM as well as many others but the 572 is under 1.5 to 1 rod to stroke ratio which for 20k is not what I want, actually when putting a 400 crank in a 350 to make the 383 you still have to notch the block so the rods are sure to clear, and this is my problem with stroking too far, when you go less than a 1.5 to 1 rod to stroke ratio you get excessive skirt loading that can cause vibes and crack your skirts as well as causing early sleeve wear, this is why ocean going ships have a double articulated rod, the piston has a fixed rod that won't move, no wrist pin, but there's a wrist pin at what would be the crank throw that is articulated on a 2nd rod that attaches to the crank throw, this way the piston moves straight up and down with zero side loading, hell it would shatter the rings in those big monsters, another problem with stroking is piston feet per minute, oils can only keep the rings floating just so fast, another reason for more pistons to increase displacement over longer strokes and why v-12's with smaller bores can rev so high, it's the same piston feet per minute at a higher RPM with a shorter stroke as a longer stroke with a lower RPM.
