Is the Accutron still made and if not when was it discontinued ?In 1960 they cost $125.00 and they were guarantied a average daily accuracy within 2 seconds. Which at the time no balance wheel watch could even come close to that kind of accuracy, You just put a 1 dollar battery in it which would last a year, set the time once and enjoy accurate for a full year ! Quite a amazing feat of engineering for 1960 !
Here are some technical facts about the Accutron 214 movement....
The wire used in the coils is .015 (15 microns) thick
There are 8000 turns of wire used to make the coils
If unspooled the wire used is 90 meters long
The indexing wheel at the heart of the accutron is 2.4mm in dia
The indexing wheel is .04mm thick
The indexing wheel has 300 teeth
Each tooth is 1/100mm (10 microns) tall
The index and pawl jewels are perfect little square blocks of synthetic ruby, 0.18mm (0.007") square and 0.06mm (0.002) thick
In one year the indexing wheel turns 38 million times !
The real Accutron tuning fork watches were discontinued in 1977 Bulova kept using the name which I don't really like Because Accutron (accuracy through electronics) should have died with the tuning fork watches IMHO.....Is the Accutron still made and if not when was it discontinued ?

eddy current art !OMG magnets, what now.
I think this has art project potential, but its also a few hundred worth of magnets.
It's only 5 second long But it meets the definition of the thread title....Not sure it counts as a "video from YouTube you wish to share" if you upload it to your own YouTube channel just to post it here... Not really the point of the thread, but OK.
