Use pieces of copper to tight and heatsink laser?

You could use them if the gap is large enough to fit the shims. But I doubt it would tight the heatsink. I use aluminium foil from the kitchen to fill tiny gaps.

How comes i havn't thought about that . But they could still be usefull to use as a mini heatsink, or would it just be a waste of money and time? 1.5mm of copper isn't really a lot

The thing with those shims is that they're probably held in direct contact with whatever is the real heatsink. In a laser module like above you'd need to wrap them around, and there'll be air gaps and all that. Probably better than air though.

get any antenna from any dead radio- remove the antenna and take it apart by shoving the parts the opposite way when it was on the radio- in between each section there are two short curved pieces of copper- already bent so only a little adjustment is needed to fit the job- you will have to break off the part closest to the radio to do this- endless free supply of copper shims. hope this helps you
