Hey guys, its been a long time

I tried searching this and did not find too much that was related, so if there is a relevant post please link this.

Anyways, I started vaping a bit, and a co-worker and I came up with a funny idea of using an alternative way to burn the VP/PG (e-juice). A laser was what first came to mind.

After a quick google search it turns out some people have talked about this subject here:

Using a laser to vape juice? : electronic_cigarette

What do the REAL pros feel about this, if its possible and what roadblocks would there be, my biggest question is would the be a safer alternative then burning the kanthal (coil).

The problem I see is that the resistive elements used in ecigs put out above 10W usually. Lasers that powerful are expensive (upwards of $500) and would need to stay cool to last more than a couple days. Unless you're willing to wait a long time for the juice to heat up I can't see it working out.

I don't see what's wrong with the way being used right now.

I tried taking pure VG and PG, added a little food coloring (since their clear), and hit it with ~2W 445. Not even a puff of vapor. Unless you used a dark ecig juice, getting the juice to absorb enough of the laser would be problematic.

Yes, I too thought about this....

Black Cotton? Either way the vapor would cloud the lens quick...

I've tried it too, the problem is that the way lasers burn is exactly how you don't want to vape. Instead of heating a larger portion of the liquid evenly, it burns the crap out of a tiny part of it. Anyone who has had their Voltage turned up too high knows that overheated e-cig juice is a big ol pile a poo poo(and that goes double for "other" liquid :umbrella:)
