Thanks for the link Atomicrox. It’s a source regardless of how much. Does anyone know the model number and the spectral range for them.

Also Paul, there are two variations of 505nm diodes that I need to know the lower and upper wavelength limits. SB217HL91 and SB217HN91. I’ve seen that Albert had a HL91 hit 501.7nm and that the HN91’s are true 505’s. But I don’t know much more than that.
 





Here's what I have on the Sharp "505nm" diodes. SB1473N91 are case neutral and range from 502.4nm to 503.5nm, SB147EC91 are also case neutral but run from 507.9nm to 510nm, SB147EB91 are case neutral and run 508nm to 510nm. The rest are care positive. The SB1573N91 are 502nm to 503.8nm, SB217HL91 are 501.7nm to 502.8nm, SB217HN91 I only measure one at 505.3nm. Hope this helps you. :beer:
 
Thanks Paul, I had some information for the others. :) It’s just the 217’s I lacked. Do you think it’s possible that a HL91 could hit 501nm?

I suppose it is possible, but the lowest one I saw was closer to 502nm than it was to 501nm. I suspect someone would have to get pretty lucky to run across a lower wavelength one. :thinking:
 
Yep, that's what I thought. I have listed that diode under 501, but under rare circumstances.
 
Have you a link to someone who found one lower than 501nm? Or, for that matter, just 501.0nm? I don't like to claim a wavelength unless someone has measured one there. It doesn't need to be me, but I have seen more of these "505nm" diodes than most.
 
Not sure you want to list this because it requires driving the diode to near death and won't work with all samples, but the NDB7675 can be pushed to 476nm.

Edit: FLD6A2TK is a 35mW 685nm diode.

DTR got a 505 that hit 499nm in one of the threads. He posted a spectro of it

Do you happen to have a link Zraffleticket? That’s extremely low in wavelength.
 
I thought that 499nm was a totally different diode than these Sharp diodes. It was some time ago and may have been one that lazeerer had. I think he was the one that ran a spectrometer measurement on it with a Science Surplus spectro.

Those NDB7675s are rated to be 462nm. It is true that some have noticed an extreme wavelength sift at 2.8 amps which is close to double what we normally push them at. If one lives it is right on the edge of death.

Even if it isn’t a Sharp I’ll be interested as it covers a small part of the spectrum that isn’t already covered?
That’s pretty extreme on the NDB7675’s. As they’ve been recorded up to that wavelength I’ll list them. But I’ll put a note though that driving them them that high will result in premature death and that it’s not recommended.
 
I would like to see another, less complete, list that only contains popular, notorious, and diodes otherwise reasonably expected to be used and sourced in this hobby.

Perhaps give them a birth-death year and/or popularity gradient (bold/big font more popular).

My thread isn’t for listing all the diodes, it’s for listing sources and examples that cover that specific wavelength range. For a list of diodes refer to jnrpop’s thread linked in the op. And as Encap has posted, DTR is a excellent source for common diodes.
