Updated the thread with a picture of a few polished hosts!

Here are a couple more. The comparison photos, Pics 3 and 4, are of the Krytons with anodizing from the factory, sanded with 2000 paper before polishing (can also be used to give a dull or matte anodized colour finish) and polished.

Your polishing looks very good.

Don't know what you are using, but from another forum (automotive aluminum) I learned about zoop shine which does a fantastic job after the 2000 grit.

Sorry about that I thought Id replied? :thinking:

Anyway you want to know my trade secrets eh? After stripping and preparing the hosts I used different papers upto 2000 and then used white aluminium polishing compound followed by jewlers rouge. Polishing was done on a new grinder with separate polishing wheels. :beer:

The Prepreped hosts (both 5.6 and 9mm), polishing and GITD are up and running and the Anodizing is coming. Sorry its taking so long...:beer:

I have decided to offer the polishing with GITD option once more. Now that Ive modified and refined the technique, it no longer takes several hours per host!

There was also a request for a "Sanded Satin" metallic look and here the anodizing is completely stripped and the host sanded with 1000 up to a final 2500 grit finish. As there was some interest I have decided to offer this as an option for $7.

From left to right: Std anodized from the factory, 2000 grit, 2500 grit final, which makes it ever so slightly more satin like and the last one is polished. The second pic shows the GITD that was requested with the host. :beer:

Just a little heads up; if any of you want a host before christmas please let me know by the end of this week. As some of you already know, I have just got a new job and will be moving to Germany in 2 weeks time. Ill be shutting up shop whilst my family and I move and plan to reopen, hopefully with anodizing, in Jan. :wave:
