UPDATED: G9 vs. G2 vs. 3-Element vs. Acrylic - A study

Hi Campbiscuit,

Sorry, I don't have any info on focal length for the G2. Some others here might, but I don't know who.

Thanks again for the review! I have a G9 comin in the mail!
?????? I asked!!! even started a thread asking and looking for a G9 lens :( never found them or had anyone find information on them

I think that is because the only G9s you will see came from 9mm 445nm diodes. You could try what SKeeZ did and contact DTR for just the lens :)

Les Threand

To flesh out the thread a little more, I did some testing on a 784nm IR diode just to see what
would happen. As you may imagine, the trends apparent with the red diodes continued into
the infrared. I set the output to 150mW with the G-2 and then swapped out a few different
lenses. As usual, the baseline is the AixiZ uncoated acrylic.

650-G-1? Unknown source, given to me by polishedball - 38% increase over AixiZ acrylic, 165mW
G-2 from DTR - 25% increase, 150mW
AixiZ acrylic - 0, reference measurement, 120mW
Red coated glass 3 element - 4% reduction, 115mW

I don't have a G-9 to compare with, would not expect it to beat the 650-G-1, as it is coated for
blue.
