hello to every one

I live in the uk and am looking for a project to do with my 10 year old son
as most kids and dads we love lasers and I would like to make a laser plotter with my son

The plotter doesn't have to be big but wouldn't be cool to have a laser cutter and plotter to cut, plot on A3+

I am quite good with my hands but not so much on the technical side (built and designed my own kit car)

I have a old printer and a printer scanner

I don't have to use these but I'm sure the motors might be used ??


any way I am looking for help and advice

where could I find plans for a DIY plotter

I also have a craft robo but that's crap and it's the wife's

so it looks like im going to be spending a lot of time here and in the garage with my son

Welcome to LPF too!

I'm a UKer and it's always good to see others joining. Where in the UK are you? Rugby just seems too obvious...

The plotter idea is a great one. It may be a little complex for the wee lad but the getting there with the sub-assemblies will be fun.

Most of us can help with the laser parts of this project but the specialists will have to chime in with the rest I think.

how ever what size motors would i need
I am going belt driven I think unless some one can come up for reasons why I should change to thread bar ??
