Tritium GB over on CPF

I got in on that deal the other day. B@rt doesn't mess around... that is guy is a fast shipper.

wow, this is cool, quite cheap ;o Never saw such thing in real and how it glows.

i can assure you that these thing are great, in dark room, they produce quite a bright light (but won't light your entire room) they are terrific as "key holder" in night
here is my little contribution with my poor picture taken with a 7 year old camera

they are MUCH brighter in reality =) pretty awesome
i like to see them in dark when im sleeping, i think about radioactive decay which is all the day and all the night... i found them on ebay , it's the lower price that i have found on web, after several research
http://cgi.ebay.com/Large-Kit-Marke...Collectables_Militaria_LE?hash=item41457ec5db
but the price on cpf are better (because there is no plastic carrier), but remenber that the vial are really fragile.
Im waiting for the sphere on cpf =)

deal extreme also carries some, but pricing isn't any better.

I ordered my three today and I got a note about 2 hours later that they had shipped. Gotta like that!

So I gather these are analogous to radium? How long do they last? is it logarithmic (half-life)?

Tritium has 12 years half-life. The apparent brightness depends on the color, with green being (as usual) the brightest.

there is only one manufacturer of tritium light, check his site : www.mbmicrotec.com
1.0 mm diameter (inner diameter 0,65 mm) Minimum brightness 150 uL [Micro Lambert] Activity 72 MBq [Megabecquerel] per mm
2.0 mm diameter (inner diameter 1,3 mm) Minimum brightness 250 uL [Micro Lambert] Activity 280 MBq [Megabecquerel] per mm
3.0 mm diameter (inner diameter 2,1 mm) Minimum brightness 350 uL [Micro Lambert] Activity 617 MBq [Megabecquerel] per mm
the one of my picture are 1.55 mm diameter and 2.2 cm long, green is the brightest, but blue and orange have nearly the same brightness as green
mmmhhh so i guess that price... are not as good as i thought (on cpf it's 1.55mm*5mm for 7.5 $ vs 13$ for my one on ebay) but it depend for what you will use them

Individual glass vessels are manufactured in various shapes depending on customer requirements. Basically, almost any sealable glass vessel can be transformed into a trigalight.
Next, the inside surface of the trigalight is coated with luminous substance. To achieve the highest quality possible, this must be done entirely by hand.
Then, the vessel is filled with tritium gas (an isotope of hydrogen) and sealed.

The manufacture of small, cylindrical trigalight used in watches, sights and other applications is fundamentally as described on the previous page. The only difference being that long capillaries of the desired diameter are first coated, filled with tritium gas, sealed and only then “cut” (next pic)to the desired length by means of a laser, specifically developed for this purpose.
