Hi mauswiesel,
what type of solder are you using?
Your solder joints seem a bit "dry". They seem to be missing flux.
Are you using rosin core solder???
Not to criticize just an observation. Cold (dry) joints have a tendancy
to be more resitive and hence will lower the power available
to the load (lasers). :)
Nice build just the same. 8-)

I think he should watch this video --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_NU2ruzyc4 ;)
I still think it's an amazing build.

Beautiful. :'( How long did it take, how much did it cost, and on a scale of one too ten, how difficult was it. 1+ rep for you. ;)

To start from 0 ( harvesting diode ect) and using Rckstr driver (more fast), and making ur grow greenie (open can, find max output) i would like to say 12H (buildint a ddl type driver)
Using a working green will be faster (just to make a big hole in the aluminium box to fit the driver)
There is a lot of wire, you need very thin wire , i think it's a difficult mod, but the second upgrade (just filling off the screwing of Mxdl, second post of photo) is easier than the first.
for the cost, i did a lot of mistake, just the hardware part aprox. 140 $

man i hope you have homeowners insurance or a fire extiguisher close lol
jk my projects look about the same lol ;D ;)

yes, the laser is warm in 25 sec, i have to be cautious with On/Off cycle. When it's too hot, the red stop to emmit , im trying to avoid this it's too scary !
The difficult part too is to have a green laser that don't overbright the other beam (a 5mw newish is too bright). The other difficult step is to have beam //, see the photo, i wedge the green with a condensator  ;)

we just need to get you a little bigger host and a heat sink that will fit all three diodes!

WOW !! what a great soldering basics video. I had never seen that one.
A Must See for every new electronic assember/builder.

BTW Never.... I repeat NEVER use Acid Core Solder for Electronic circuits.
Use Rosin Core Solder exclusively. I speak of experience and common knowledge.
8-)

That is amazing that you fit all of that into an MXDL host! 8-)

Great determination... Talk about sticking to a plan!

Nice soldering iron... ;D

Wow, if you can open a diode can with a bread knife and solder diode pins with THAT thing, you must be a master :D Like , you may have a future in brain surgery or something ::)

yeah you are like the master of using what you have.

but still please let me give you my extra soldering iron.

who knows what you could be capable of with that?
