"Your file of 773.5 KB bytes exceeds the forum's limit of 976.6 KB for this filetype"

The gif was 640x480 and the file size was 773kb like it says.

Probably the resolution is the problem. I guess the forum can't say something about the resolution, so it gives a warning about the size :D

yeah that probably the problem 640x480 is massive for an avatar

EDIT: this is an example that is 640x480...

If you tried to load it as avatar, you overcomed the allowed limits.

If you look in user CP > edit avatar, you see under the address line the maximum that you can use

Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 200 by 200 pixels or 750.0 KB (whichever is smaller).

Same is for the signature picture:

Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 500 by 400 pixels or 488.3 KB (whichever is smaller).

And for the profile picture:

Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 100 by 100 pixels or 488.3 KB (whichever is smaller).

I got the same error message when loading my avatar; as HIMNL9 said, the pixel size was the actual problem. Talk about misleading!

Yeah but it's annoying how you have the "share on twitter" stuff underneath // completely ruins the sig. How do you activate the custom signature picture ? I can't even though it meets all the requirements...
