TRACKING OF YOUR IGORT's LASER ORDER!

i haven't even been sent a paypal request for money yet. the order summary i submitted is dated at around mid february

I opened the package.
Here are my first photos and my first impression;
Unfortunately I am not amazed by IgorT bluray.
It is beautiful but I must admit that it doesn't surprise me as much as other IgorT Bluray owners.
I cannot compare it to others as I don't have any other with its outer look or technology in it.

I'll try to keep words short as I know this is the best way to keep everyones attention :) Long readings tires everone ;)

First I noticed one of the battery shows "0" voltage. This is not his fault but this is strange if they are protected batteries.

I used other one fisrt it didn't work then I noticed it is because I didn't screw enough :)

I am not glad with a square dot of this laser. It is written 191mW and it stinks my hand almost instantly withous focusing from 1m away :) but I am shocked as it doesn't burn white paper as people told. I focused it but not successful about it yet.
Does anyone know easy way to adjust for a parallel beam?

This is the first laser color that my canon is unsuccessful to take a nice beam shot without any smoke. It will take some time for me to put some beamshots here.

I also add some size comparisın with my 8cm Cree flashlight.

I am happy to trade with my beautiful Laserglow engraved aquarius as this looks to have no duty cycle as far as my one day test :gj:
I'll let you know about further thought about it later as I am so busy in these days.

Thanks Igor for your good job but I have to admit waiting that long without getting any exact information is not fun :tsk:

I received it right now :)
First photo with my cellphone nokia 6300.
I'll open it at home cause I am at work now:beer:

Great news!

Happy that you got your laser man! The trick to burning paper is that the laser must be focused to a pin dot. So with your glasses on you should be able to burn through that sucked. :gun:

A little trick I used was "defocusing" the laser so its projection was quite big on the wall and then moving the distance to find the focusing point.

Here are the last photos.

By the way I forgot about the cree led and spare GITD tailcaps.
I like them too.
It's a working led and so bright with 14500 rechargeables

Congratulations on finally getting yours too  The dates prove that your local postal service is not much better than Igor's "business-line" postal service...

p.s. Unlike your direct & to the point "review", mine is long & tiring ...
(well, hopefully more interesting :pop: than tiring :tired:)

Believe me its not our local postal services fault. It is because of our address.
My work address shows LEVENT as my district but as for our postal service it is SISLI.
Therefore it goes from one center to another :)
That caused the delay :)

About your review I can say it's not as cruel and criticizing as mine
Although I know every detail about his laser I didn't write anything about it.
So your is better to let people criticise better by knowing all and I also like your linking words to other threads. ;)

I like this part the most ;

As a matter of fact on a good day, Igor is hard to communicate with, his mind, hard at work on a million different topics, wandering all over the place. You ask him if it's "red or blue" and you get back a long-winded answer about the meaning of the Universe... But in the end, you still don't know if it's red or blue… Not to mention, he always ends his two-page essays with "I don't have time to answer your question now but I promise to get back to you"… . Go figure.

I think there is no one that can capture the beam in daylight or at dim light without any smoke.I couldn't with my canon ixus60 and it shows the beam as blue color.
I'll try with some smoke later:cool:

Hey, it's not fair, you got the Cree led module! Wish I had one but eh, oh well... Nice and short review, much appreciated! However, you may think about blurring away the addresses in the pics (yours and Igor's), it's not really a good idea to have those exposed on the Internet.

First I noticed one of the battery shows "0" voltage. This is not his fault but this is strange if they are protected batteries.

The "trustfire" batteries being what they are it's really not surprising to get a dud from time to time... Did you try charging it? Sometimes the protection circuit may be tripped and then it shows 0v... let it charge for a few minutes and see if there's a change (don't leave it on the charger unattended, it may be dangerous!).

I am not glad with a square dot of this laser. It is written 191mW and it stinks my hand almost instantly withous focusing from 1m away :) but I am shocked as it doesn't burn white paper as people told. I focused it but not successful about it yet.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression all BR diodes projected a "rectangular dot" (oval when unfocused) as a matter of their construction. The only way to get rid of it would be to make a special lens with a pinhole apperture, but that would also substract a few percent from the output power... Is that not so?

This is the first laser color that my canon is unsuccessful to take a nice beam shot without any smoke. It will take some time for me to put some beamshots here.

Yeah, it's not easy but it can be done... Traveller was kind enough to post a few useful hints on my thread here that may be of help.

Regards,
Mihnea

You had me going there for a while, lol :p

This is correct - even red LDs are not really round, per say. Below a pic of Igor's & 6X with it's standard AixiZ acrylic lens (back - open or not, I don't know... I will try to find out, though) next to a similar 6X laser using a "high-powered" 405-G-1 lens from JayRob.

As you can see, the size may vary greatly, but the pattern is 1-1. Igor has seen this picture and was not surprised. The only difference is that not everyone can "see" the smaller rectangle - as a rectangle (or so I have been told).

...to let people criticise better by knowing all...
Thx, Murat :)

I am always honest in all my reviews and I never omit any good or bad points. Otherwise, what the point of the "review", right?

I do, however, generally "highlight" the good stuff and avoid highligting the bad stuff since most of the people I'm dealing with are fundamentally good people who are not perfect (like me)... ;)
The day I come across someone who's actually trying to rip me off (or otherwise a bad person), I will make it clear to everyone - that, you can be sure of :knight:

What makes the beam round?
I dismantled a green laser. It has a divergence lens and a collimator lens.
It works with an IR diode (open can) and it doesn't have a round beam but the green dot comes out as a perfect round dot!;)

I also add some quick beam photos. You can also notice that my camera captures the dot as a round one :)
No smoke included :D

Hey, I can't answer your first question as I'm not an optics expert. I would assume, though, that the greenie had an iris (or pinhole) somewhere in the optical chain. Maybe someone with more knowledge in this area will let us know... ;)

The image I attached above is the projection of the "dot" on a CD jewel case just 50cm in front of the camera. In perfect focus. Using a $400 prime (fixed-FL) macro lens... . I take it you projected the dot against that door from ~5m away and then walked up to it with your camera? Well, of course the AixiZ acrylic lens on Igor's 6X will look round...

Wait 'till you get your self a "high-powered" lens. And you will, because we're talking about 25% increase in power without any danger to the diode :D

Glowing light stick with Igor's Bluray

Took this photo when I shone the diverged beam onto a bundle of light sticks !!!!

Yes. We need someone to explain this!

Exactly. I projected the dot from ~5m to adjust a paralel beam :)
It look round in the photo but it is not. Its a rectangle. I can show it by adjusting the lens for a bigger dot.

I am not sure if I have enough courage to do that. :D I have to be sure that Igor is back and highly convenient to deal with this project:whistle:
