I ordered the Thor Ultra 5W blue laser from Laser Pointer Store after looking around a bit online and browsing the forums here. I put a quick review up on youtube that I shot on my phone if anyone wants to check it out. Nothing special, but a decent burn test.

Nice looking unit. Is that a Sanwu 3x Expander on the front? If so looks pretty sharp. :)

I'll bet it a BE from the laserpointerstore.com. What did all that set you back, if you don't mind my asking? Just wondering if it is a better deal than Sanwu or if they are about the same price.

Thanks. The laser itself was about $350 for the 5W and the beam expander was $60. The beam expander is a must have if you get it. Not sure if it's any specific brand, but it is the one on the site. I also opted to getting the case for it as well.

I think many Chinese resellers buy the same BE to resell, too bad they haven't made a bigger one, they will need to tighten quality control and use helical cut threads so at longer distances the input and output lenses stay parallel, just the thread slack adds up over distance, still a nice little BE.

it is a sanwu expander, perfectly fit on Thor Ultra. Brewdiver82 use 2 high quality batteries, and the expander, significantly improve the burning ability. I love the video!

and, Brewdiver82 is the first one to get the silver version, we didn't even post it out at that time.

Interesting, it's looks identical to the ones Sanwu sells

Those BE's are quite nice, they do improve the beam a bunch. Enjoy, looks like you got a beauty there! :)

But I do have one request; beamshots! :D

there are other expanders with differnt times, but mainly for co2 lasers.

Looks like a JL host with a Sanwu threaded crown. I like. Is the focus adjuster a ring below the crown? Tommy pm me if you're able to sell the host minus a diode and driver.

Yes, the ring is below the crown. I actually didn't even realize it had a focusing ring until after I made this video as it's so well blended in with the machined body of the host. It actually focuses down even tighter than in the video now. I'm very happy with the product.

I just looked at sanwu's website and they have a 7W spiker on there now... Maybe my next purchase. lol

I have a 7 watt Spiker and it is a beast. If your going to go that route may I suggest you get the multi-mode driver, sometimes 7 watts is just too much, it's nice to be able to turn it down some.

Also would you happen to know what diode they use on your Ultra? It one nice looking host you've got there.

Maybe Tommy knows what diode is in the Ultra?

Looking at their LPM tests for the Ultra and H2 on their youtube channel, both come in at 5W but the Ultra seems to be much more stable at peak power.
