For almost 2 year I want to have a high powered green portable laser (300mW+) but never had enough money for it.
Because everytime I have the money I needed something else or something breaks down.

Once again I have saved enough but this time my wife don't want me to buy it.
She likes the lasers but she thinks $1000+ for a gadget is way to much.

How can I convince her?

DUDE! Trust me on this one. A laser forum is NOT the place to be asking for marital advice.

Peace,
dave

just don' tell her ;) worked for my dad ;D ;D hope it works for me when I get married :P

Is that your Sphinx cat in your avatar there?  Beautiful.  But I bet it cost a pretty penny too.

That wil not work, she'll notice it for sure when it arrives. (and if she don't she will see it on the bank account)

But the Kryton is a 50 or 100mW laser and it doesn't have an IR filter.
I'm looking for something like RPL-300, Herc275 or PGL400 from S-KY.
Or at least something that puts out more than 300mW (the 275 does because this is the sustained output instead of average)

I already have a 100mW (cni gold) laser.

haha sorry man but i'm with your wife. $1000 is ALOT for a gadget.....
surely you can just go cheaper.

Buy her some flowers the day you expect the new laser to arrive ....at least if she hits you with them it won't hurt too much. ;)

Thanks for the advice but I think the only way to convince her is to tell her every day that I want this laser. (not whining about it, just mention it)

And then after a while she might agree with it but it will cost some time to get her used to the idea. ;)

Dude, she knows you want it. Mentioning it over and over is gonna start a fight. Let it go for now. If you must pursue this, wait until she wants a new laptop or something, tell her 'Too expensive, no.' then immediately buy it for her as a surprise. If she asks where you got the money for it, tell her you were saving up for your laser but would rather do something nice for her. Wait a month before you mention the laser again. She may be more receptive.

(Or just buy it and start looking for a new wife...)

cheers,
kernelpanic

p.s.- Daguin is right. Really I'd ignore all this advice, especially mine. ;D You're asking a bunch of techno-geeks (most of them teenagers) how to get what you want from a woman(not your mom :-?)... Let us know how that works out for you.   ;)
