I have a muscle disorder that makes my muscles tremble, a lot. I can barely keep the dot from a pointer in a 5" circle at 10'. So now imagine me soldering, iron shaking, solder piece shaking. I had all but given up when I saw the thread with Flaminpyro's flux in a syringe.

I said well it can't hurt and it's worth a try. It arrived yesterday and I tried it today. I was actually able to get a good joint with it. Every thing else was the same ,the iron, solder and the work piece. It flowed beautifully and what solder I got on the piece ; just followed the flux. So if you have problems with unsteady hands and can't solder, try FPs flux it helped me. At least I can now solder the battery contact and two wires together.

Great to know! I have shaky hands but I have learned to wait until I have a moment of stillness before making a joint. However my first bit of solder flux arrived yesterday and I look forward to giving it a try.

Solder flux is a must even if your solder already contains it. I learned that the hard way, over and over again.

Ok, I haven't tried FlaminPyro's flux yet...Is his flux that special? I use the standard 4oz (i think) tub from Radio Shaft. The shop covered the cost, so it's no sweat to me, and seems to be a perfectly adequate flux...Is Jeff's flux that much better?

I love fp's flux. I was skeptical at first thing I'll never need that there is nothing wrong with flux and a brush.... Boy was I wrong. Your job looks so much better when you don't have unnecessary flux everywhere.

I have only used flaminpyro's flux a few times,
but it does seem to work better than the R/S stuff in the tub.

For me the nice thing about it is that it comes in a syringe with a tiny needle type applicator,
that makes it easy to apply neatly, and you only use what you need.

I hear ya. I'd never use a brush. What I use on my drivers and tiny jobs is an "orange stick" that I've ground one end down to a fine, pencil like point. I can then just tip it with flux and put it precisely where I want it.

Perhaps when this tub runs out, I will give Jeff's flux a try.

I was using flux in a tube, thrown out now. I couldn't get the solder to flow, but with this I can, And I can put it only where I want, to some degree. Tremors make that a challenge too.

FP's flux is great. It sticks to diode pins and wires perfectly which helps positioning your wires on to the diodes pins. It also cleans the joint well and leaves almost no residue.

Certainly helped me make better joints.

For those that don't know, he is not the only supplier of this miraculous product called flux.
Hardware stores, ebay, and many other sites also carry it, and for quite a bit cheaper I'd imagine.
Flux is flux in my opinion, so buy the cheap stuff. I've never had a flux that didn't do it's job.

Is a $100 bottle of shampoo any better than a $5 bottle of shampoo?

I've been soldering over 35 years and I too was skeptical.
I have regular rosin flux in my Multicore solder and when I
have an oxidized difficult MF of a joint that just wants to
stay dry I use FP's flux and all is well. I also use regular
liquid Rosin flux that also works well.
Since I use Flux Cored solder I rarely need additional Flux.
But when I do I grab FP's Flux in a syringe... There is no
mess like with the liquid rosin flux.

I just re-read what I wrote... Sounds like a testimonial
TV commercial...:crackup::crackup:

That's my story and I'm sticking with it...:beer:
