haha if being imploded and turned into a tiny star for a few nano seconds is considered "lighting" then yes!

It can light matches, pop balloons and burn electrical tape even penetrate the Earth but it cannot defeat Chuck, Chuck Noriss.

No, it cannot light matches, nor pop balloons.

Matches and balloons in the focus, last so few picoseconds, before becoming dissociated in their elemental components, that no flame have the time to develope for the matches), and the balloon surface have not the time to "pop" (for the balloons) ..... so, no, for matches and balloons, it's unhelpful.

Same for the tape, btw.

I've been thinking about making a scale model cigarette lighter NIF for my coffee table :)
Ideas mooted here on how to drive/align 48 low power modules onto a central focal point in an acrylic sphere.

j0hnn3hboi, sorry, but this thread is a bit old ..... have you seen the date of the last post before your one ?

Is always a good thing to not resurrect old threads, if not for add newer informations ;)

Lighting white matches sounds kinda racial and non-PC :) 405 nM doesn't seem to care about color ( colour) ;-)

Mike

LOL what a thread.

Thanks for the link GR8revealing, seem to remember reading something about this laser before it started operating.

Will it sting if pointed at skin? Would make a great hair removal laser imo...
