This is the latest addition to my laser collection :D
It is a Pocket Pal style Open can laser, with a custom copper heatsink (exclusive, and no more will be made), and a Meredith glass lens.
The heart is an open can diode being driven at 450mA using a flexdrive. With brand new Energizer Lithiums, the output is 330mW, according to my LPM [smiley=evil.gif]

It feels very heavy in your hand, due to the copper heatsink and Meredith module, and is very solid, with no loose parts or wobbling.
It would probably survive a drop on concrete, but i ain't gonna try that out :)
The Meredith module makes the beam REALLY thin and diverge less than with an AixiZ module. The focusing ring does not wobble either.
This laser can not be replicated, because it is made with a genuine Pocket Pal, from the original manufacturers. Not the sku. 46 from DX. This host eliminates the tail clicky problems with the Sku. 46 hosts. A heatsink like this will never be made again, as it is exclusive.
This laser is freakin' awesome! If i swipe a match through the path of the beam, it will already be lit!

I'm sure others can easily duplicate the heatsink, I just said that I don't want to make anymore copper ones because the copper is hard on my mini lathe...

Edit: I am making copper heatsinks for my Pocket Mini build though... :cool:

But that really turned out nice Spyder. I can imagine how heavy it must feel in your hand. The copper probably weighs 3 times more than aluminum...

Dude, you went through that tape like butter...

I made a Meredith Pocket Pal build (sold) and I was able to get the module set inside farther so that the focus knob was nearly flush with the heatsink. Not that it matters, but it's just an observation...

Interesting... How did you go about doing this without the module sticking out of the rear of the heatsink?
Was it the side-button pocket pal with the copper heatsink?
 
I made a Meredith Side button pocket pal too, but also a Pocket Pal like yours. There was barely enough room with the wire leads 'bent' 90 degrees right at the diode pins. I bend the wires over right when I heat the heat shrink tubing, then the heat shrink tubing cools, and holds the wires bent over...

P.S. With my blu-ray build, the lens screwed in farther for focus, and with a red (like yours), it will not be screwed in as far for focus. So it will need a little more room inside than a blu-ray build if you want the focus knob to be flush. But I think there may be room.

So that's how you do it...
When i put the shrink tubing on, i bend the wires after i have heated the tubing ::)

EDIT:
The module on my laser is perfectly flush with the heatsink...
The focusing ring sticks out because i had it focused to infinity.
Look at the second picture, and you will see what i mean ;)

Wow that's alot ! Well im only 14 and have no job so money is kinda hard to come by.

Yea, it's an expensive project.
If i were to sell them, they would go for about $200.
 
A Meredith glass module shipped to the U.S. from Meredith is $47 dollars by itself!
