The Copper Behemoth!

Also, just wondering? Is that your gallardo in your pic?[/QUOTE]

Yep, 2010 Gallardo Spyder. I opted for the LP-560 motor with the 6 speed E-gear automanual transmission. Funny enough, its my DD.

Wouldn't want to carry that laser with you while driving. Its weight will drastically impact your fuel usage

Awesome build man. Congratulations on owning such a beast. And props to Jayrob, you sure know how to make an unbeatable laser package! No one should hesitate to purchase anything from Jay, unbeatable workmanship and customer service :)

+1 to both of yous

Nice, yeah a mate has one and it goes nicely as a daily.. I am currently tossing up between an 2009 LP 560, Audi r8 and a new Nissan R35.. I have actually found a 2004 merceilago the other day and am going to look at it this weekend.. It actually costs less than the lp560..

Is yours a straight black?

Toyota Camry ftw.

Haha personally I would go for the r35. They're one of my favorite cars.

Same, but if you had the opportunity to own a merceilago for only a few thousand more would you not take it?
We have normal cars too.. Mrs daily is a 2012 Mazda 3 SP25 Mine is a Galant VR4 And my weekend is a 1978 Porsche 911 turbo.. But hey I have had a camry before too! The new ones are quite good!

I can't talk for nick but i am not overly rich. I work very hard, love my toys and have a very understanding gf and bank manager :yh:

Update: Since I've stocked up a few 9mm diodes, I decided to run the torch for 15mins on one duty cycle. I had it pointed at an old closet door we are replacing which is approx. 1.5in in thickness and this was the result.

I friggin LOVE this thing!

That's got to be some kind of a record...

Hey how warm was the copper after 15 minutes? I'm guessing it got pretty warm at that current...

Jay:

haha! yea I cheated a bit and gave it a little cooling system since I have never run any of my lasers longer than 5mins. The thing didnt even feel warm to the touch but that was to be expected. Gonna try some distance burn tests later this week just for fun...lets see if we. can't put a hole in some white paper ar 20 feet.... ooohhh..let's see who wins:) Copper Behemoth vs Plain white piece of paper deathmatch update later this week. place your bets folks! haha!

Ah... I missed that post...

Still wondering if you start to feel the copper heatsink start to warm up after 5 minutes or so at that current??

What say nickdizonc?

At about 5 minutes you can feel the copper get luke warm. Its not until about 15 minutes or so that you would use the word "hot". Even then you could still hold on to it with no discomfort. I put arctic silver 5 on the copper module holding the diode as well as the entire hollowed out aread where the wires/diode are housed so hear dissipations is near perfect. I even put arctic silver on the threads of the maglite tube itself where it mates with the copper sink. I know its overkill. I'll post a video soon. Just waiting on my LPM to be re-surfaced by laserbee and I'll but a burning/LPM/updagte vid for all to see this in action. So far I LOVE it. I havent picked up another torch since I got this and its going to be a while before I put it down:)

Yep...

The addition of thermal compound can't hurt anything unless it gets excessive to the point of working it's way onto the diode or lens. (it's kind of greasy, especially when it gets warm)

About the car and big boy toys, I'm certainly not rich. I squirrelled away money for years and drove a 1992 Ford Thunderbird SC until the wheels fell off before I bought my Gallardo in 2009. I wasn't the buy and sell type of guy with cars. I saved as much as I could to get THE car of my dreams. Took me nearly 13 years to get it, but it was well worth the wait. Best part was I paid for it in cash brand new. A little patience and a lot of hard work can go a long way.
