Very nice! That is one big heatsink on top of having the module :D You may have one of the last units, there was a post Jayrob made about Lasever being shady with their business tactics.

Nah, I'll be upgrading my 473 somewhere down the road and I'm gonna use a lasever module. Jay's still not entirely done with them :p

Unless CNI offers better prices for equal power... and CNI doesn't even offer equal power.

Last night, When I turned on the 473 laser, a quick flash appeared and then nothing.:(
I remembered this thread:

After one minute the driver smelt of burning.
I tested the driver and it seems to work.


here is the driver without the module, the IC is already very hot

maybe I once put the cell wrong but I don't think so.
I don' t Know what to do:
buy a new Cmount and driver? I'm not able to build the diode myself.
Sell the module to someone who can repair it?
Buy a new complet module?
I think I'll keep the host to put copper heatsink in the original heatsink for a aixiz module; by the way I save the host.

If you reversed polarity it might've blown the driver circuit.

If not, it could be a couple things...that's a hefty current it's pulling now. I'm sure jay could help. If not I'll happily see if I can fix it. It sounds like the driver is damaged, and unloaded into the pump and made it blow. I doubt that the pump can take 2.6 amps head on...

Edit: check and see if there's a little red fuse on the back of the module. Most of the CNI modules have them to protect the diode. It might've blown to protect it, shorting the driver to ground.

It looks like there is a protection zener diode on the back of the module. Put your multimeter in diode test
mode (the one between 2000MΩ and continuity test) and see what it says in each direction. If it reads
zero in both directions, then it will have to be replaced. You should get a higher reading with the negative
probe on the black wire and a lower reading with them reversed. If you remove it then the pump has no
ESD protection, so act accordingly.
 
I definitely recommend taking Ultimatekaiser up on his offer. He is VERY good with DPSS modules and 10/10 would send a problem to him to look at.
 
I also think the driver is damaged, It must have given to much current to the pump.

what about testing the diode zener alone?
how can I know if the pump is dead?
If I use a mohgasm lineare driver 1.8A with only one cell, will it work?
 
I'm betting that IC blew out. The driver likely has been run too hot too long/too many times, and burned up some of the main current limiters, Causing a high current, low voltage control situation. Sadly without knowing the specs of the pump, I can only guess a bit. Should be in the order of 2V @ 2A. But not 100% positive

yes, I think it's either a 2W or 2.5W C-mount if I recall. The diode should be ok in theory, but a new driver would be problematic, you'd likely have to build your own, or you could call CNI resellers and see if they have a spare driver board. or replace whatever gave up on your current board. I think what they did was commission the modules, but use their own driver, which wasn't made properly, and gets too stressed out easily.

A word of warning. you should not have opened the module...there was no confirmed reason to do so, and the LBO crystal will slowly dissolve now that the module can breathe and has been introduced to moisture in the air. these are made to make that a last ditch resort.

some IR coming out of it which can be "seen" if you have an IR sensor card or the right kind of camera.

The LBO will be fine as long as it's not open to the air for very long. Then when you seal it back up, put
some silica gel or other dessicant inside to absorb residual moisture. But I would not open it at all until
you are sure the diode is bad and have the replacement parts in hand.

IIRC i read somewhere that Lasever uses BiBO for the doubling crystal in these modules. If that's the case then it would be less sensitive to moister.
I would email Lasever and see if they will tell you the crystal that's in it. also you may be able to buy a new driver and pump from them.

I tried today the Mohgasm driver, when I turn it on and off I saw sometimes little blue flashes.
Yesterday i sent an email to Lasever to ask for a new driver and diode but no news.
thank you guys for your help .
