the $15 LM317

the cap is the brown looking thing and the protection diode is the other tiny black block.
There in between the green and black wires.
they are smd parts.

Ok coooool.. but doesnt overheating an issue, afterall its all fused togather what happens if it fries the diodes n capacitor.. i think u should add a custom heatsink if its worth it!

i just glued it to the side of my heatsinks. that is why that back plate is there.
That was one of my first drivers i made right there.
that right there powered all my builds.

god take a look at my driver.
sure its just a lm317 but it has a cap and a diode to protect your laser.

i might sell this for a max of 7.5$

mine will be something like that....for the kits.

idk it just seemed so simple there was no need to even make a pcb for it. just bend one pin as a contact for one side of the smd chips then use the wire for the other side.
And the resistor fits in perfectly, but i can see the fact that a pcb will look a ton better.

So this means removing the 100Ω VR doesnot affect anything , and the total current output still depends on how well we choose the other resistance?
For instance a 4Ω Resistance would give just about 310mA while remaining circuit remains the same and the VR also eliminated..
