Well now you just had to go and motivate me to get another dtr module didnt you? 405 here i come.

I would have guessed the 405nm at that distance, that thing will burn at much greater distance than 27 feet, maybe 90 feet. I have several of the same fan, you must shop at at Walmart.

HeHeHaHa Yes I Got It At Walmart 2Y Ago The Fan Stooped Working But I Lubricated The Back And Is Working Amazing HeHeHe I May Land On The Walmart Shopper List :D

I actually thought you were going to burn your feet for 4 seconds. Had to go back and re-read. I can wish can't I lol
Yes, the 405nm is one nasty dude. Funny how I don't have one over a Watt myself. Haven't really looked into how hard they can be pushed. Do think I have a few in the 800mW range though.

I thought the same thing as Pman I had to re read it 3 times though. Nice test there it really answers alot of my unposted questions. Thx:)

Good testing, single mode is wonderful. If possible you should compare these results with a 3-element lens instead. I would trade off power for divergence any day with lasers at that power, but it'd be cool to we just how much divergence I'm gaining. +rep

Thanks for posting those test results with pictures. Really helpful for understanding the differences.

I just ordered a 209 from DTR the other night.

I was hoping there would be a 32x blu ray burner, but everything is going to chip memory.
CD's and DVD's are going to go the way of the cassette tape and VHS.

I wonder how the 209 will do with a G7 in front of it? It will make a wider exit beam and a tighter dot at a longer distance.

Good test Alien Laser, I can't rep you yet but will when it lets me.

@ Gabe: Forget the 3 element, it's a power robber, the G7 will give you more range but the G2 will give you the best solid beam for practical purposes and the highest total energy.

RedcowBoy, how much in % would a 3 element lens rob power? I realize it all depends on other factors but in general.

The G2 has a 2.39mm rear focal length, the 3 element has a 5.3mm rear focal length, so if you look at how the raw diodes output diverges, some of it will not get into the lens.

I know with other diodes you can gain 30% on your LPM by switching to a G2 just because all the diodes output gets in.

Love it. Got the same 405 diode using a G2. Most excellent burner. I also use those black CD covers. Sits next to my TV. Small piece iof driftwood to burn next to that. You can really get a pinpoint dot. Its this weeks favorite of my collection.
:)

Thx RedCowboy, you gave me a laser lesson that yes I had to reread " several times" but was something I needed to understand. I just need to expierment myself with the 3 different lenses to see the difference.:)
