heru is selling 1 watt 9mm red diode......so why aren't we making pointers out of these??

couldn't a flex drive power it? (since it can go up to 1500mA)

i would love to carry around a 1 watt pointer....or even a 700-800mW pointer.

When you say "pointer", do you mean pen? You know you'd need a lot of heatsinking for one of those, right?

And that's one of the only places for most people to get them right now (not used in DVD burners), so they're not very popular. If you want to, go ahead. I'm sure some people would love to buy one from you. :D

Edit: I can't find the page, but I think it also might require to much voltage for the flexdrive to handle.

in any case a DDL driver should handle it?
meredith glass lens
ddl driver.

i was thinking more of a flashlight host :)

They would make great burners, but the beam quality would most likely suck. Even with bad divergence and a square beam it would still be worth it IMO, it still is a 1 watt visible laser handheld!
