Jaseth, i agree with you that sparks and arcs are differents (also if a stud gun don't produce any ark, cause with no exceptions, they are all pulsed devices ..... look at them carefully, no matter how muck quick is the repeating rates, are just sequences of sparks, not a contitnuous ark )
But remain the fact that you cannot produce 2 millions volts from an unit that have electrodes at 5 cm distance, arks or sparks, no matter what you do ..... also cause in the moment that the spark snap between the electrodes, the charge is turned down, so is the distance from the electrodes that set your output value ..... and, for the laws of the physic, 50 mm = 50 KV (and, if it was really an ark, that is not, cause it's a stud gun, not a cutting tool , the voltage was also more low, cause after the startup, the ark need a lower voltage for be maintained)
