This looks like a winner. It's half the size of the MicroVision module, almost certainly implying that it uses direct green diodes. Once these start seeing integration into phones, we may have a lot more motivation to upgrade our smartphones regularly

Oh D..d.. dd deary me its so tiny. Is 30% loss really no big deal? 55% is outrageous. But 30% is still quite a bit. Its far more than I would've though.

Well, remember, they're not just projecting a dot and LPMing it.

They're turning that beam into images. So when you consider that they must have some mechanism for varying the brightness of each laser's contribution to a pixel, as well as at least a couple lenses and dichros, a 30% loss actually seems tiny to me. I mean, don't we loose almost 30% of the raw optical output of our diodes by just shooting them through a single 3-element glass lens?

As an interesting side note:

When I did Holokid's mod to my ShowWX and shot the "white" combined beam out the side, I decided to LPM it. Granted, it wasn't projecting a pure white screen, but rather the MicroVision splash screen. However, the output barely reached 6 mW. This, given there is a 50mW green, a 50mW blue, and an 80mW red diode inside. Even if the splash screen was only 1/4 the output you'd see from white, you're still talking about HUGE losses.
