In light of this information, don't beat yourself down aryntha. It's just one of those things you would've had to know. That's why this place is a great community... a lot of smart people in here.

Thanks Jay, for the support... and - yes - the people here have saved my butt in the hobby a few times already. I hope eventually I can give something substantial back to the forum and community.

As I've said to some, sometimes the cost of ending up with a broken laser can be thought of as paying "tuition", learning about how to deal with acquiring them, (especially with used gas lasers) -- why it doesn't work -- and what to watch out for in the future.... And best of all, how to fix it if possible.
