Stars, planets, and Lasers oh my

I took a picture of my 2.3watt and 1.3watt this morning just before dawn. The long exposure captured some stars and a planet or two! I am color blind... and I know that the beam on the left is a whole 1 watt brighter... but do the colors look different to you? Both lasers are supposed to be 445nm.

The color balance isn't quite right. Both lasers looks purple. What camera are you using ?
 
the beam on the left seems violet to me, instead the beam on the right seems blue. Are you sure that they are of the same wavelength? BTW nice picture :beer:
 
THANKS! I thought it looked pretty cool.. considering I live in Dallas, TX... light pollution is pretty bad here...

Canon software has some problem with color rendering from 445nm lasers. I had it a while ago too with my Canon camera. I found a work around fix. Shoot RAW when 445nm lasers are involved. Then use Adobe RAW converter for this picture. You will see the color is much more consistence with the blue 445nm ( or not if you are colorblinded ). Then save it as JPG.
Don't use in camera JPG because the color will be more violet instead of blue.
 
A little off topic, but im interested in how a color-blind individual perceives different wavelength lasers. If you could please attempt to explain how you see the beams that would be awesome. Do some lasers appear grey, or appear a color that they are not? Im really curious about this.
 
For me, I see colors... But my brain does t identify them corectly. Unlike certain animals who we think can only see a few colors period.
When I see a blue and a purple sock next to each other, I see 2 different colors. However, I have to guess which one is which. Now if the colors are very far apart(for me anyway), no problem. (unlike Orange and yellow? Red and pink? Green and brown? Purple and blue?) No luck. Also, another interesting thing is red and green. Sometimes, if the hue is just so, they appear to switch places... Back and forth. Like some cruel joke.
When driving, I have to look for the positions of the traffic lights. Top=red... Bottom=green... I stop at all flashing lights because I cannot tell the red from the yellow.
